Wearing: Zara trench coat, Rachel Rachel Roy top (c/o), Rachel Rachel Roy skirt (c/o), Zara heels, Clutches of Karma clutch (c/o), Fossil necklace, shades of moss and forest green nail colour by Joe Fresh and makeup by NARS. (I spent a good amount of time relaxed, sitting in a chair in The Bay’s cosmetics department as a pretty Australian make up artist – with freckles I could only dream of – gave me my new look yesterday afternoon. It was heaven. I took (paid) a few of the NARS products home too!)

Last night The Bay Downtown Vancouver hosted special guest Rachel Roy to their second floor White Space for a signing and informal fashion presentation. The space was packed, Rachel clearly draws a crowd. Her Canadian PR forces were kind enough to offer to dress a few of us bloggers, this being the outfit I chose. I love a girl who appreciates chic casual wear! I may wear the top and skirt (with sporty sport-luxe wedges and a sweater), to Vancouver Rowing Club’s rugby festivities today in Stanley Park. Chartreuse would really work with the field.

See it first on instagram.

It’s a frustratingly wet Monday morning. So much for those cute shoes you had planned. Hellloo wellies. At least it’s a holiday and you can spend this soggy day inside a nice cafe, or perhaps browsing through a book store. And guess what else you can do?? Invest a few minutes into entering this giveaway and spend the rest of your summer looking CHIC. Hard case clutches are IT right now, and I’m particularly in love with the Clutches of Karma collection. So in love in fact, that on my recent photoshoot with Yael Cohen at the Hotel Georgia I brought along my clutch and styled it into a feminine Valentino trench coat & pink McQueen dress combination. It was gorgeous.

{ My clutch, the morning after my March 5th birthday party – would you believe all of that was inside it? }

So here’s what we’ve got for you! Clutches of Karma and I are pleased to offer you a giveaway! Enter to win one of these three clutches - you get to choose your favourite! (Kind of dying over the Ivy.) Take a shop look!

{ The Ivy }

{ The Stitch }

On Tuesday night, April 24th J. Crew opened its Robson St. store doors to a veritable who’s who in the Vancouver fashion scene. The store opening party was jam packed full of fashionistas looking to meet the designers and PR team flown in from New York and check out the newest J. Crew offerings. My favorites are the leather ballet flats, which I intend to go back for come better weather. I had the pleasure of attending with Niki Blasina of A Haute Mess.

{ I look a tad unimpressed here, but the evening was actually rather good! Particularly when you have Niki as your date. Wearing: Twik anorak (c/o, BCBG Max Azria dress, Zara belt, Nine West sandals, Clutches of Karma snakeskin clutch and a plethora of sparkling, golden bracelets – photo c/o Niki’s iPhone }

As it was raining that night, a rain coat worn as a dress seemed rather appropriate. I layered the anorak over my 21st birthday dress, close up here.

{ Wearing: Zara bomber jacket, cardigan & blouse, Twik denim (c/o Simons), Chanel shoes (instagramed here), Clutches of Karma clutch (c/o), Forever 21 necklace, Social Experiment cocktail ring (c/o) }

On Wednesday night, just shortly after I landed in Vancouver, Brendan Bailey PR threw an exclusive fashion party for author Jacquie Somerville‘s new about-to-launch book, My Fat Little Rule Book. The event was held in the luxe two-floor penthouse of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. The suite was incredible, from the upstairs patio overlooking all of downtown Vancouver and most notably the Hotel Vancouver, to the cocktail reception room downstairs offering plush velvet chairs and beyond chic furniture. Jacquie read an exciting excerpt from her guide book, featuring rules to live by for a fashionista battling between food and fashion. With an underlying message of dream big, score big, the book delivers a frothy take on  self esteem issues, reaching goals and Marc Jacobs vs mousse cake. Come April My Fat Little Rule Book will launch first as an eBook, and then in print. Jacquie is a Vancouver gal, maybe you’ll bump into around town!

Check out VANCOUVER DAZE’ coverage and many images of the event here!

Work doesn’t stop on your birthday! I will be spending the first day of the 25th year (someone explained to me recently that my 24th year is over the day I turn 24… so this is officially the first day of year 25. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, I am 24 and having a hard enough time accepting that. I miss 23.) on my computer prepping my resume (**mid-day edit: An answer to a questions I’ve received about the resume comment: I’m not quitting any of my current projects, but potentially adding more) and sending mass amounts of emails! And perhaps perusing a clothing site that has just been made known to me: Simons – I’ve just loove their gingham shirts, in all three colours.

Have a fab Monday!

Or, we could more aptly call this post “Aftermath.” But a pretty aftermath. Generally I post on Saturdays but what with prepping for having friends over for pre-dinner drinks and appies last night, attending George’s rugby game then spending the afternoon at the clinic with George after him getting his eyebrow split open from a rugby-style collision, there was precious little time to be spent on the computer. As tweeted, last night was my birthday party, not my actual birthday – that’s on Monday, but the night to go out and wear the requisite sparkly dress! (And boy, did I!)

{ Basix II sequin dress passed down from my twin sister, and last seen here }

{ Birthday bag: Clutches of Karma clutch and all the goodies I had inside – Coach key chain, Bombay Brow Bar lip gloss (so good) & cards }

{ Sweet treats from sweet friends – I’m looking forward to freezing these macarons and serving them with ice cream! }

{ The accessories table post late night }

{ I wore this Ted Baker belt with my sequin-splashed dress, picked up at Harrods in London – last seen here }

{ My earrings (brand unknown), and the aforementioned sweet treat from my girl friends }

{ We (read, I) littered our apartment with fresh pink roses }

{ Elie Tahari shoes, poor things got a little scuffed at the heels }

It was a wonderful evening (cupcakes and candles documented here by Lyndi Barrett!) and a very memorable birthday  party! Now, let’s get this lazy Sunday started. Mmmm french toast and coffee.

{ Choker & floral blouse on }

{ My new necklace joining my other baubles bedside. Gold hand figure from Front & Co., leather bow bracelet by Storey Design. Lamp purchased at HomeSense, Dior Maison tray (a splurge from my time in Paris! First seen here), Clutches of Karma clutch (a new favourite line) }

Flipping through the latest issue of Harpers Bazaar recently I came across a page dedicate to chokers! I’m rather delighted that they’re back, I quite enjoy them – and they’re so easy to create for yourself! Here’s how I made my own using an old earring and a piece of scrap ribbon:

I chose a floral piece from my bag of broken baubles and attached it to a piece of grosgrain ribbon using a a needle and thread, making sure to really secure the flower by double-threading the needle. (I did this while watching Mona Lisa Smile, ohh what a great movie that is.)

It was one of the easiest DIYs I’ve done, just four materials! (Needle, thread, jewelry piece and ribbon.)

Happy DIY-ing!
