Today I awoke to a grey Toronto sky just ready to shower the many bustling downtown streets. No umbrella necessary, this military style cape with an extra-big hood did just fine. I had really hoped to capture a few outdoor photos, but with the rain there was no hope of setting my camera up anywhere. (I suppose that’s what boyfriends are for, among other things.)
Wearing: Zara cape, Aritzia Cowichan wool sweater, Fidelity skinny jeans, Browns boots, Kate Spade purse and a pink plaid cashmere scarf from a neighboring store to the Pantages Hotel.
What’s in my bag when I run around a new city? Most of the usual:
In my bag: LaCoupe travel-size hair spray, Ipod Nano, black leather wallet from Zara, a baby pink day planner that I painted neon pink with craft paint, (I was bored one afternoon and was experimenting with neon pink), A Christian Lacroix notebook, a pen from the Drake Hotel, travel papers with flight and hotel confirmation numbers, my Blackberry Bold, a small Canon camera, a luggage key, blog cards, MAC pressed powder, Chanel lipgloss and Dior lipstick.
This afternoon I visited the legendary downtown Hudson’s Bay Company on Queen St. First to the 8th floor for a late lunch, which also happened to be breakfast, then after a fresh application of lipstick and gloss, down to the 3rd floor where they keep the treasure; The Room.
I snapped quite a few photos of The Room, but because I wanted to avoid looking like a creep with my camera, I took these photos with my Blackberry.

Above: Matthew Williamson brights and texture, below: the wall that divides The Room from the rest of the 3rd floor is made of these beautiful suspended blocks of glass. Through the “wall,” drawers of designer costume jewelry beneath a mannequin dressed head-to-toe in glamour.
How do you find ways of adding glamour into your life? On a casual day cashmere, beautiful leather and polished lips do it for me.
Thank you for reading!

Not that I was at work. But I’ve certainly been doing work! This evening I met up with the fabulous Lindsay Lorimer-Stewart who does marketing and event planning for Guess? Canada. (The same wonderful woman who Niki Blasina and I worked with on the Guess by Marciano party back in June.) We chit chatted and gossiped over bellinis at Milestone’s at Yonge and Dundas. Yummyy! And naturally, I changed my outfit for the occasion.

Wearing: Armani Exchange black metallic jacket, H&M striped shirt (long sleeve), Fidelity black waxed-finish denim, black suede knee-high boots again from that random NYC shop I mentioned in the last post. Vintage Pierre Cardin snakeskin clutch. Chanel sparkly lip gloss, Michael Kors tortoise shell style watch.
Editor’s Note: I believe in my last post I referred to Toronto as being on the East Coast. You see, in my mind, as a West Coaster, NYC and Toronto are in the same group of fabulousness, being two of the main metropolitan cities in their areas, so I tend to think of them as both being on the East Coast. Forgive me for it, but in my head it makes sense. (And yes, I know, that water at Toronto’s edge isn’t the ocean, it’s a lake.)
Bisous,

Day 2 of the Toronto trip and I’ve just checked into the Drake Hotel, and finished brunch in their lounge. This hotel is fabulous, ridiculously trendy. But not in a negative way, in a I feel cool just staying here kind of way. My room is referred to as a “crash pad,” and it’s pretty amazing. Love it here.
This is my quick little post before I go explore Queen West and the apparently great selection of vintage shops!

Wearing: Alternative Apparel pull-over, Tommy Hilfiger striped shirt, Fidelity denim, knee-high suede boots from NYC – no idea of the brand, Fossil watch, bracelet from a SoHo street vendor in NYC. Blow-out by me. Lots of hair spray by LaCoupe.
Off exploring I go!

“Hello cab company? Yes, hi, I can’t walk home in these heels.” Wearing: Leather bomber jacket from Zara, with DIY fur trim, Alternative Apparel t-shirt, Fidelity denim, Browns ID booties, Gianni Chiarini navy leather carry-all.
Last week I ventured over to Railtown for an appointment with a local PR agency, Dela Cruz PR, to view a few spring 2011 lines from various clients. Here are my favourite looks from two, Matix and Fenchurch! (Who knows why I look so darn tired in all these photos, I shall blame it on the poor lighting.)
Matix S/S 11 sky blue jacket (above): Love a menswear inspired jacket cut for a woman. And for once, a jacket that isn’t cut at the belly button, who else is over that look?
Matix S/S 11 little black dress (above): This was one of those pieces that would be perfect for a summer date. For now, I paired it with dark denim.
Matix S/S 11 striped shirt dress (above): Loved this piece, it’s so me. This piece would be amazing loose and relaxed with flats or belted with a pair of statement chunky heels.
I swear I’ve never met a stripe I didn’t like… especially a nautical-feeling stripe, like this dress (above). Gorg with golden bangles, no?
Malania (Dela Cruz) showed me a few of her favourite pieces from Fenchurch‘s spring line…
I see this jacket (below) with white denim shorts, huge tortoise-shell frame aviators and wooden platform sandals…. Oh no… I’m already dreaming about summer… *I love the wind and rain*I love the wind and rain*I love the wind and rain* …
Cute, cute cute. This sweater (above) also comes in cream. You know what I love? Cream with dark denim, or light, faded and distressed denim cut offs… with pink espadrilles… Oh here I go again. I think I’ll have to go buy a new fun umbrella just to make myself feel better about the rain now.
Oh yes, I left with a few little things.

Just stepping in the door after a full day of running errands and a trip to the Willowstream Spa with cupcakes in hand. I must apologize for the picture quality here, or lack thereof, but the battery had just died on my Nikon when I was ready to take the photo. And I don’t always have a ton of patience for electronics.

Wearing: Zara plaid coat, H&M wool scarf, Fidelity denim, Yany sequin purse (this season – available at Holts!). Shown in top picture: H&M striped top, H&M mens’ leather belt, Browns leather boots, $3 NYC street vendor aviators.
Today I woke up bright and early with a serious list of tasks to be accomplished. From a visit to the local Cupcakes shop to the printers to see about getting a large StyleStruck sign printed… (you’ll soon see what for!) and a quick stop to 7-11 for the December issue of FLARE magazine, which by the way is a fantastic issue, the editors did an incredible job this issue! Midday I made my way to the Willowstream Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel to take advantage of a spa gift certificate I had. That place is pure luxury and I enjoyed every minute of it. If you ever find yourself slipping on one of their big white terry cloth robes, make sure you check out the deck! What a view, and what a fabulously relaxing space high above the city. The Willowstream Spa is beyond blissful.
I must be off now, dinner plans await!

4 hours later and I’ve had success! In my last post I mentioned that I was going to cook something I hadn’t before, well I decided to start with something fairly easy, so I chose a recipe for Broccoli and tortellini dish with a homemade alfredo sauce. Of course, I had to get dressed, (out of my pajamas), to go to the grocery store, so I did:
Wearing: Express plaid wool jacket, Alternative Apparel hoodie, Fidelity skinny jeans, Browns boots. And that down at the left is my new pumpkin.

This pumpkin really needs to get carved. I had meant to do it tonight, but I decided to make a pumpkin cheesecake instead, (pics to come!), plus carving a pumpkin is way more fun with someone else. I shall just have to contain my pumpkin carving excitement for a few more days!
Dressing for fall is my favourite, warm layers and rich fabrics, it’s all very romantic I think.
Things to do this holiday season:
Ghost Train in Stanley Park, Fright Nights at PlayLand, carve a pumpkin (DO IT!), drink pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, wear huge woolly scarves piled around your neck, pull out those fabulous earmuffs, (Holts has adorable fur earmuffs), visit a pumpkin patch, go for runs in the rain, collect big maple leafs and of course, while the leaves are still crisp and on the ground, go for a walk through Stanley Park, perhaps bring some peanuts for the squirrels.
Tonight’s dinner:
Mmm, delicious and healthy! (The alfredo looks a little lumpy because there are onions and garlic in it, and I’m still working on my fine chopping).
That’s it for now! MAKE SURE YOU GET FESTIVE THIS HALLOWEEN SEASON!

p.s. I’ll leave you with this beautiful photo, it’s the view from my apartment this evening…
This morning I woke up to the most annoying sound: my alarm. I hate that thing. But, I must obey its command, otherwise I’ll be late. Since the beginning of September I spend every Tuesday morning at Best Buy Canada‘s head office working in Corporate Communications. My job there being part time, I do the rest from home. But on these days when I do the hour long commute to the office, I like to dress the part. Luckily for me, the dress code at Best Buy Canada’s Head Quarters is quite relaxed, so denim is okay. Here’s what I wore today:
Sitting in my living room wearing an H&M ruffled cardigan, H&M scarf, Dynamite white tank, Fidelity Denim black waxed skinnies, Marc by Marc Jacobs patent leather mary-janes and my Fossil watch. Bag displayed under the coffee table is Kate Spade.
On my way home, I stopped at Metrotown and picked up a very cute hot pink work-out zip-up hoodie that I plan to wear as I ascend the million steps on the Grouse Grind tomorrow afternoon. But not before I hit Skoah for a facial, I think when asked what time we should do the grind I told my friend, “Um, well I have an appointment in Yaletown in the morning…” Those are my favourite kind of appointments. ; )

Brittany Yu and I at Opus, holding two drinks for the sake of a party photo. (Wearing: Vintage sequin jacket, H&M oversized tee, Fidelity black jeans, vintage ring, Fossil watch and I have no idea who made my leather bracelet. Oh, and I had on my nude Stuart Weitzman pumps!)
Thursday night Opus played host to a very stylish group of fashion enthusiasts celebrating Obakki and Painted Rock Winery. There were Chanel shoes, sequin skirts, velvet jackets and endless high heels. I attended with friend Brittany Yu, one half of Stiletto Marketing, a local PR, social media and marketing agency. The wine was fabulous, the Obakki models beautifully dressed and the crowd happy. All in all, a very fun night out! The party benefitted the Savong School and Orphanage in Cambodia.
The party was so fun in fact, I forgot to take pictures. Luckily a few others snapped a few!

For all the skeptics out there, please tell me you’ve become a Twitter-using, LinkedIn-posting, Facebook-liking social media know-it-all, (Vancouver needs more “social media experts”). Social media is as legit as any form of traditional PR, just look at where Electronics retailer giant Future Shop is looking for their next group of employees, Twitter and Facebook. I came across this article in the Vancouver Sun just this morning and think it’s a must share:
Job-hunting 2.0: It’s who you know and how you know them
This past week I joined dozens of fashion loving social people at Opus for an Obakki showcase. I do have a small post coming, but in the meantime, here’s a photo that Anthony Sedlak, entrepreneur and chef extraordinaire, took on his iPhone and sent to me. (Wearing: Vintage sequin jacket, H&M oversized tee, and Fidelity jeans, but you can’t see them.)

Wearing: Zara leather jacket that I attached a piece of vintage fur to, Alternative Apparel hoodie, (this season), Dynamite tank, Fidelity jeans, Browns boots, (this season), Gianni Chiarini leather carry-all.
Today the weather felt just right. In fact, it quite suited my mood. I spent the morning trying to be as productive as possible, then ran out for a lunch meeting, and now find myself again at home with Marie. She’s actually sitting right beside me on the desk, edging on the computer. I keep having to push her off because she tends to mess with my typing. She’s the best little companion a girl could ask for! I must go now, press releases and research call my name.
What I get most excited about for fall is playing in the leaves at Stanley Park, big giant lattes, mittens, fur and cozy layers. What do you love about fall?
Traveling with my nerd-box, (computer), as always! Mmmm fall : )

I am lying belly-down on my incredibly comfortable yellow sofa, staring out into the grey sky and rain soaked street. I can’t help but love the rain, when I’m inside of course. And even better, I have no obligations today, thus making the rain welcomed as I curl up with old movies, (Arabesque ft. Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren) and my current flavor of chick lit, Chasing Harry Winston. Marie is also curled up beside me, having spent most of the morning chasing ribbons from my ballet shoes around, last night I pulled out my beloved pointe shoes for the first time in years, and managed to squeeze my feet into them again! Here is a blog post of a random collection of images and thoughts from the past week. Hope you’re enjoying the rain, or sun, wherever you are!
FYI I’m wearing a bodysuit under the shirt, which is from H&M. Pointe shoes by Bloch.
Last week I spent a quiet night at home alone with the lights off and tons of candles lit around my apartment, turned on some Norah Jones and cuddled up with a giant mug of tea. *sigh* Delightful!
Also last week Katie K., (she works at Fidelity Denim), and I went to an event hosted by Alexandra Isenberg of Searching for Style at Opus for Imran Ahmed of the Business of Fashion. Imran spoke about luxury houses’ use of social media, and how some are really embracing it, like Burberry. The talk was informative and interesting, very glad to have been a part of it! A big thank you to Alexandra for putting on such a wonderful event! (And Skyy Vodka for those yummy cocktails!) Apologies in advance for my not-so-great photos this post, my little Canon just fits so much better into my purse than the giant Nikon.
That’s all for now, much more to catch up on and to come! …. I do believe I mentioned I met Lance Bass…
Back soon!

Hot pink leather Kate Spade bag, all the way from Palm Dessert!
Recently I was the lucky recipient of this beautiful bag, which has quickly become one of my favourites! I take it everywhere, from photoshoots, (it held my Nikon on the day of the Kensie shoot), to Starbucks to school, (at school it sits proudly, though kind of in the way, on my desk). It is just exactly the right shade of hot pink! And I have been searching for a pink bag for years, it’s hard to find one that is the right balance of cute pink and sophisticated pink, seems bag designers out there want to make all pink bags out of pleather, or cheap vinyl, which is like handbag suicide. And the gold accents are so beautiful, it really makes me very happy to carry it around town.
Outfit I wish I’d captured: Last week I went to meet with the lovely lady I’m currently interning with, Andrea Baxter of Bratface Marketing, and wore a navy and cream striped knit blazer, a light pink ribbed cotton tank tucked into super dark, super long Fidelity jeans that have this fantastic wet-look waxy finish to them with my Chanel platform sandals and this bag! I felt FABULOUS! Though, I spent the majority of that day traipsing through the city, walking city blocks, catching a bus and then another bus to get to all my appointments. In the afternoon, after I finished my hair appointment, (got a little blonder, LOVING being blonde!), I had to walk through this unpaved alley, it was like off-roading in Chanel. I nearly broke my ankle on those 6 inchers trying to make my way over a seriously uneven road. I must have looked ridiculous, but I’d wear them for a day of adventure again!
