{Don’t be fooled – the blouse is just doing what its cut and pleats mean for it to do: give me the “I’m carrying” look. (It’s misleading shirts like this that keep US Weekly in business.) Wearing: Zara bomber jacket w/ DIY fur trim, Bedo blouse, JNBY pants (c/o), Michael Kors shoes & small purse, Marc by Mac Jacobs bag (similar here). H&M aviators, Holt Renfrew necklace. My version of athletic wear: chic sweatpants (no longer the oxymoron it used to be), a bomber jacket and a gym-esque bag.

Shot just outside of Benny’s on Broadway. We headed there for breakfast this morning, having been there before a couple times with friends. I brought my computer to get a little work done and was sorely disappointed to find out there are no outlets at Benny’s. I also learned that around 11 it is a hub for the younger, more rambunctious set. Not ideal for working. Craving Giovane Cafe right now… perhaps I’ll stop by there later today.

After watching two complete seasons of Mad Men, I’ve decided to make like Betty Draper and don red lipstick. I’m going to wear it everyday for a week and see if anything changes, after all, it’s a real departure from the usual gloss or nude lipstick I wear. Perhaps it’ll give me a new found confidence to do wild things. I shall report. One thing I know so far is, with red lipstick on your make up time is cut way down in the morning, red lips = minimal eye make up. My lipstick of choice (Clinique All Heart) is more of a cherry red, and seems to coming off as a pinkish colour in these photos, but I promise you, it is R-E-D and my boyfriend is terrified of it.

{Wearing: H&M mens sweater (current), Merona shirt from Target (circa… 2006… here’s a newer, better one), Zara pleated leather skirt (similar here), Browns ID boots, scarf from a rack in Sears (again, circa the old-er days, 2007. Similar here – I want this one too!), vintage Raybans, Fossil watch}

I spent the day reliving Constance Prep from the early days of Gossip Girl. Anyone else miss Blair’s shiny red gloss, endless supply of headbands and her daily take on the Constance neck tie? I do. Besides the fashion, you know what else makes me miss the first seasons of GG? How bad the new ones are. It’s become a real soap. But I still watch, for Blair.

T-minus 1 hour and 57 minutes until Jason Wu makes his appearance at The Room at The Bay and I haven’t a clue what should be worn for such fashion royalty. There isn’t a designer I love more (even King Karl sits behind Wu in my line up). Remember the lace head pieces from his Fall 2011 presentation? Too good. Now I’m getting myself worked up. I am literally sitting at my desk half dressed (put those thoughts away!) because I can’t make a decision. Part of me wants to wear purple cords. Shut up, Olivia, bad idea, bad idea… but maybe if I paired them with sequins… and silver heels, Chanel heels! But is that weird if I wear Chanel to see Wu? If only I owned some Wu then all my problems would be solved! Perhaps I should nip out to Holts and get some Wu… and then not eat for a week month. No. Nuts. I’m nuts. … But if I didn’t eat for a month then I could actually fit into the Wu… How’d you like that? A few seconds inside my head, imagine what it’s like to live in here all the time.

I shall take a million and one photos tonight. Off to battle the closet. Au revoir!

We leave Edmonton today after five days here, back to Vancouver! I wore this the day we arrived, lots of layers and my take on a less formal outdoors look.

Looking forward to being back in town, and for all the events coming up! November 9th is the Blogger MeetUp featuring fashion bloggers! (And yours truly!) MeetUp organizer Raul Pacheco (a.k.a. @Hummingbird604),  did a nice write up about the event on his blog Hummingbird 604! We’re going to talk about attending events, the blogging community and what it’s like to receive those awful PR pitches. We promise it’ll be an interesting event!

Wednesday, November 9 at The Network Hub 422 Richards St. 3rd floor – doors open at 6:30pm, the panel starts at 7pm.

AND it’s time to announce a winner for the CircleCraft Christmas Market ticket winner! Congratulations to: Holly Ostler! (FYI: My winners are always chosen at random, I thank everyone for entering! Lookout for another giveaway coming soon!)

{Wearing: Zara leather jacket and boots, 2 Elles sweater (from Paris, get similar here), wool trumpet skirt: made my me (which upon publishing I’ve just noticed the little rip in the stitching), orYANY bag (get similar here, or get it in orange here), vintage Raybans, H&M headband, Dior Rouge Pink #475, Dior tray from Dior Avenue Montaigne (Paris), Calvin Klein Forbidden Euphoria c/o}

Just before leaving this morning I spritzed on Calvin Klein’s new fragrance Forbidden Euphoria. The sweet notes to of the perfume make wearing it feel exotic and a little mysterious, which a girl needs now and again! Plus I love the colour of the bottle, a very pretty topper for the counter.

One of my tasks today is to upload all of my new Christmas card designs to my online store on Etsy, I hope you enjoy them! In the meantime, here are the current seasonal offerings from LOVE + MARK’D!

This jacket is brilliant, warm and functional. It’s nice to have a break from carrying a purse some days and this jacket allows me to do exactly that! I love the expanding pockets.

It’s perfect trick-or-treat weather, I hope you find yourself with lots of treats this evening!

Happy Halloween!

On Monday my good friend Stephanie and I went for our annual Fall Frolic. For years now in October we’ve visited Stanley Park on a sunny day with hot seasonal coffees to enjoy the crisp fallen leaves and generally just have a good frolic around the park. I look forward to it every year!

{Cole Haan bag and pumpkin spice lattes from 7-11; I share this with you because we tried them on a whim, and were very pleasantly surprised! Delish, and only $1.98 (or so). Because of that great value we decided we should also get bags of 5 cent candies, bringing our expenditures to a more even $4.00. ;)}

{Wearing: H&M mens sweater, Prada dress, Zara belt, tights borrowed from Stephanie, Steve Madden boots, Armani sunnies}

Along the way through Stanley Park I carried around my recycled grocery bag collecting pretty undamaged leaves and chestnuts for drying. I much rather decorate with authentic Fall pieces than store decor and these findings will be perfect for a Fall-themed soiree I am hosting on Saturday!

{Marie’s new favourite toys are chestnuts. I lay them out in the sun on an old tea towel to dry and the next morning it was like an Easter egg hunt, but with chestnuts – Marie had batted them all around the apartment. Haha Marie, you funny little thing. Do you remember her Halloween sweater from last year?? Too good!}

{After making those yummy cupcakes last weekend for dessert at Thanksgiving dinner, I had quite a lot of cupcake mix and icing left. Tonight I whipped up the leftovers into mini cupcakes! And these little cupcake decorations are also in prep for Saturday!}

What are you doing to celebrate the Fall season?

Just out the door to run errands this afternoon (must buy new shades of glitter for new stationery orders! Which in my books is fab-u-lous.), and being absolutely in love with this new H&M sweater (with leather pockets), thought I’d snap a quick photo.

I’m really enjoying a nice little sneaker over a flat right now, much better for running around town. (Many thanks to Tretorn for these comfy Nylite sneakers! Posted wearing them here for the Nylite Project) This big Cole Haan bag is brilliant: it’s big enough for my iPad, my notebook, headphones, iPod and a myriad of other knickknacks and lots of pockets.

Today is the last day to take advantage of my 25% off discount code on LOVE + MARK’D stationery! Click, click, click to see it! (Discount code: stylestruck to be used at checkout)

A big congrats to @Rymarie15 who won the giveaway for the Kensie sweater from Courtney Boutique!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend! Hope you get to spend time outside!

Sunday live blogging – just found my way through the Boze Family Corn Maze in Surrey. It was just as much fun as I thought it would be, and we definitely got lost! And I brought home a pumpkin, for decorating purposes.

En route to style the Mavi windows this morning I was left to my own devices to capture a photo of my outfit, so here I am, thanks to my point-and-shoot and its trusty timer. (The photographer had an early morning at work today.) Below is the first window, completed. The second is now done too - I tweeted a picture! My mannequins will be up for all of October, tweet me if you pass them! I’d love to know what you think!

High street shopping: the chain retail stores that are generally a sure thing for that shopping fix we all need. The affordable stuff that is generally (or I suppose ideally), paired up with the less affordable stuff. After I dressed I realized everything I was wearing was rather affordable, I gave myself a pat on the back.

*The difference between gifted and courtesy of (c/o), being that gifted items arrive in a gift or “swag” bag, items courtesy of are purposely selected and given for blog/brand collaboration. This Joe Fresh coat was a product of the gift bags at the Joe Fresh store opening party last October.

You know what’s one of my favorite quotes from a movie? It was said by Joan Cusack playing Cin (short for Cindy?), to her best friend Tess, played by Melanie Griffith in the 80s classic, Working Girl. They’re getting Tess ready for a party at Tess’ boss’ apartment, raiding the closet, and Tess passes her dress of choosing over to Cin. Cin looks at the price tag and freaks: “$6,000!? It ain’t even leath-uh!” What a timeless beauty of a quote. Luckily for me, these Armani Exchange faux leather pants were gifted so there were no qualms over the price tag. Leath-uh. Haaha. You know what else? The word “pleather” makes me cringe.

{Wearing: Mossimo trench, Linq sweater, Armani Exchange pants (c/o), these would be the “faux leather” piece I am referring to, Rockport boots (last seen here), Gianni Chiarini leather carryall, H&M umbrella, aviators from Paris}

Today a collaboration between local Vancouver designer Jason Matlo and Diane’s Lingerie was revealed. Jason designed seven unique and to be noted, sheer outfits to demonstrate how confident a woman is showing off her properly-fitting lingerie from Diane’s store (2950 South Granville St), for “Bras you want to show off.” The seven models strutted their ensembles up and down South Granville, bravo ladies! To give us fashion and media people an idea of the effect a great bra has, we were treated to a fitting and complimentary bra. So today, at 23, I got my first grown up bra. It fits, it does everything it needs to and more (ha!) and it’s luxurious. My other bras will be so jealous.

{The fantasticly fabulous window displays. Where do I get one of these clear raincoats? (I promise to wear clothes underneath.)}

Thank you, you wonderful readers for visiting my blog. I always enjoy your feedback and if you’d like to leave me a comment or a question please do on my Facebook page! I’ve had enough trouble with my comments option so I’ll be removing that shortly. Have a wonderful weekend! I hope it is filled with lovely treats and relaxing afternoons. Bisous!

In the world of fashion, the Fall season is already upon us, with the cozy collections having being shown back in February and now beckoning us to don their trousers, blouses and woolly wraps. I am so for it. So ready for a change, I despise tiny tank tops and short shorts, I pull my denim cut offs on in disgust. Of course, mother nature disagrees. But she’s never been much for fashion ; rain, hail, wind? Of course there are fabulous things about summer: sangria on patios, strappy sandals, a tan and picnics in summer dresses, but still, Fall is just so much better. In the words of Candy Pratts Price, “September is the Jaaaannuary in Fashion.”

{ Wearing: TNA Cowichan sweater, Brooks Brothers chambray shirt, Express skirt & socks, Fossil watch, Betsey Johnson heart watch, H&M sunnies & my Pillow Boots (c/o Cougar Boots) }

These past few weeks have been big for my relationship with the mail man. Parcels and packages are so much more fun to receive than those pesky bills! Not too long ago I pulled these toasty boots out of a giant box (poor mail man), courtesy of Cougar Boots. 50 Canadian fashion bloggers received the limited edition Pillow Boots (only 900 pairs were made); this is how I plan to style mine when the weather turns colder (soon, please). See how Jen of Her Waise Choice and Alicia of Alicia Fashionista styled theirs too!

P.S. Event Notice:

How many of you are not 100% sure of your career path or what your goals are for the next 5 or even 10 years of your life? And if you do know what goal you want to reach (I’d like to write a book), but don’t know how to reach that goal (where the heck do I start, who knows an editor?? A publisher??), then here’s a tip for you:

Heather White, a local Vancouver gal and entrepreneur with an incredible knack for understanding how to help people discover their own abilities and paths (and treasured friend), is hosting a workshop all about what you want your life to look like, it’s called: Life Design: A Lesson in Customization. Heather will be discussing:

Having a vision for your life
Goal Setting
Mental/Physical/Emotional/Spiritual Well-Being
Foundation Development
And much more
Find the workshop (to be held September 15th), here on EventBrite. I know most of us fashionistas are on a budget, so use the discount code word “thinktank,” and receive 25% off the ticket price. What you will spend on a ticket you will reap back and much, much more after a session with Heather. Remember how I mentioned I made a big life decision and decided to go into biz for myself? That liberating decision was made largely in part due to a long conversation Heather and I had. Happy discovering!
