Wearing: Zara trench coat, Rachel Rachel Roy top (c/o), Rachel Rachel Roy skirt (c/o), Zara heels, Clutches of Karma clutch (c/o), Fossil necklace, shades of moss and forest green nail colour by Joe Fresh and makeup by NARS. (I spent a good amount of time relaxed, sitting in a chair in The Bay’s cosmetics department as a pretty Australian make up artist – with freckles I could only dream of – gave me my new look yesterday afternoon. It was heaven. I took (paid) a few of the NARS products home too!)

Last night The Bay Downtown Vancouver hosted special guest Rachel Roy to their second floor White Space for a signing and informal fashion presentation. The space was packed, Rachel clearly draws a crowd. Her Canadian PR forces were kind enough to offer to dress a few of us bloggers, this being the outfit I chose. I love a girl who appreciates chic casual wear! I may wear the top and skirt (with sporty sport-luxe wedges and a sweater), to Vancouver Rowing Club’s rugby festivities today in Stanley Park. Chartreuse would really work with the field.

See it first on instagram.

Wearing: cuffed Joe Fresh cream cords (with a cream silk blouse), and navy silk and mesh Pauline heels by Charlotte Olympia (Find Charlottle Olympia at The Room at The Hudson’s Bay Co)

These towering heels and their most perfect accoutrement (hello pom!) accompanied me (or took me), to Vancouver’s Yaletown for a light salad sprinkled with prawns, a cosmopolitan, and a date. Well done Ms. Olympia.

On the walk home (walk!?) we stopped at a glamourous little ice cream parlor (7-11) for a most decadent treat (chocolate-and-nut-dipped ice cream on a stick). I loved every minute of it.

à bientôt.

The other day I was browsing my closet options for last night’s The Art of Romance Jason Matlo bridal show at The Hotel Georgia. George (boyfriend) took a couple snaps as I toyed with a sequined option:

{ Wearing: H&M Conscious Collection blouse (c/o), Zara skirt, Ballin shoes, Fossil watch }

Here’s what I ended up wearing:

{ Wearing: Vintage sequin jacket, Joe Fresh silk blouse (details instagramed here), Zara trousers, Elie Tahari shoes, Franchi clutch, Fossil watch, Poshlocket bangles (c/o – also seen here) }

The event was beautiful, from the spectacular room with it’s decadent wall paper and crown moldings to the weddings dresses Jason Matlo showed. I did tote along my camera, but when I saw the talented Georgia Esporlas snapping shots, I thought, I’ll wait. No point trying to reinvent the wheel, especially when Georgia does it so well.

 And also, this:

I’ve mentioned before that at LOVE + MARK’D we do a lot of custom work. We’ve (there are two of us now! Not including our creative consultant, the cat), just finished a good number of custom “From the desk of…” sets and since we keep (some of) our clients cards private, I thought I’d show you our work via StyleStruck. See them in-store here!

{ Wearing: Joe Fresh sweater (last seen here), Zara trousers, Vince Camuto shoes, Kate Spade bag, Fossil watch, Storey bow bracelet, diamonte bracelet – unknown: (bracelets close-up), H&M sunnies (my favorite), Stella & Dot stackable rings }

Miss Alicia Fashionista and I met yesterday morning for an indulgent cup of chai tea latte at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s divine cafe, Bel Cafe. It’s amazing what an invigorating conversation can do for your mood. After our drinks we crossed the street to the Vancouver Art Gallery where I have been wanting to snap shots for some time now. Alicia took these for me. TGIF! Have a fabulous weekend! I plan to spend mine finishing Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich, watching a couple episodes of Dexter – George and I can’t get enough, though I squirm at the gore-insinuated bits, and going for light jogs – summer trousers are less forgiving than winter denim.

Last night I finally got all of my things together for my trip, and actually properly ironed everything for the first time in ages! I decided to pack light, just a carry on and a tote bag carrying my lap top, magazines and purse. Currently sitting at the Edmonton International Airport waiting to board my next flight to Toronto. Oh – boarding time!

Tagged with:

{ Wearing: Joe Fresh angora sweater, Momentous Moments t-shirt (c/o), BCBG Max Azria pants, ShoeMint shoe boots (c/o), Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Pierre Cardin snakeskin bag }

It wasn’t a real road trip, just a quickie down to Point Roberts to pick up a delivery, but certainly enough time in the car to warrant comfortable clothing. When we got to the boarder line up I realized I had brought my old expired passport instead of my current one. I was promptly dropped off at the nearest Cold Stone Creamery while George finished the trip. I scooted over to Shoppers first, picked up the latest American Elle, ordered myself a “Love It” size of hazelnut chocolate with Kit Kat chopped in at Cold Stone, and sat down for a relaxing read. (Did I subconsciously on purpose pick up the incorrect passport?? When was the last time I sat down with a magazine guilt free??) The whole passport incident involving needing a magazine was practically serendipitous. You see, I’m been very much disliking my longer hair for some time now. I find it a nuisance, boring and frustrating to maintain. When I first started this blog, in 2009, I had very short, blonde, sassy hair and I loved it. After awhile I longed for a ponytail and eventually grew it out. (It took two very long years.) And now just as it is grown out, I’m thinking seriously about chopping it again. As I flipped through the pages of Elle I repeatedly saw images of gorgeous girls with short, short hair! Arizona Muse, some model in a Kate Spade ad, etc. They all looked so chic and it made me miss the fun of short hair. See below for a photo of me, circa 2009.

This is indeed the best picture I could find on short notice. I love cheeseburgers, so what, I bet you do too.

Now to find the perfect hair stylist… It’s always frightening.

Yesterday morning, as fiercely tweeted!, I did a segment on Breakfast Television with host Riaz Meghji! I was there to talk fashion and how to dress thinner – 5 lbs thinner to be exact! I showed slimming blazers, a trench coat and dark wash boot cut jeans and some of my favorites and easy go-tos! Click here to watch the segment!

{ Wearing: Joe Fresh angora sweater, Zara trousers & heels, Storey Design bracelets, Fossil watch }

The models are wearing: (from left to right)

Renee: Trina Turk dress & Sam Edelman shoes (The Bay Downtown Vancouver), H&M trench coat and Storey Design bracelet and black leather croc-embossed bag

Nick: Hugo Boss blazer, Levi’s denim & Kenneth Cole shoes (The Bay Downtown Vancouver) H&M button up shirt, his own tie and watch

Lucy: Theory leather blazer, J Brand denim, Rachel Rachel Roy shoes (The Bay Downtown Vancouver), Joe Fresh silk blouse, Storey Design necklace, bracelets and tan leather bag w/ snake skin detail

Jonathan: Diesel leather bomber jacket, sweater & chinos, Hugo Boss Orange shoes (The Bay Downtown Vancouver), H&M t-shirt

Many thanks to BT for having me! To The Bay Downtown Vancouver & H&M for the fabulous clothes and to Joy Mitchell (, for doing our hair (at 6:00 am!!).

P.S. Yesterday was all sorts of glamour, I went from TV to my sweat pants and an old T to get my painting on in our new home! Step 1: primer… the before and after shots!

A couple weeks ago I took two Joe Fresh diamante necklaces that I found on sale over to my girl friend’s place for some serious help. While sparkly, these necklaces just looked dated, nineties, and not in the “nineties is back” way. Thankfully for me Lucy knows her stuff when it comes to all things jewelry making! After all, she does have her own line of handmade pretty things: StoreyDesign. The identical necklaces really needed some length, they hit somewhere between an awkward choker and the decolletage. Step 1: We started by removing the unsightly chain closure from each necklace. You know, that bit of chain that allows the necklace to be lengthened, the hideous one with the silver ball at the end? Ick. Then, with cutters I edited the shape of the hanging pieces.

Step 2: With two little pieces of wire looped, Lucy attached the necklaces so that they hung at slightly different lengths, giving a layered effect.

Step 3: Lanvin has given me a love for the grosgrain ribbon and jewels combo, so to add the needed length to the necklace we tied a light grey ribbon on to each end, again using little pieces of wire that we looped to create small circles.

The finished product! Hung over a BCBG snakeskin vest. Hint: Lucy burnt the edges of the ribbon with a lighter so to prevent fraying.

I’m not the only one who likes a little sparkle… More DIYs on the way courtesy of Lucy! Bisous!

Photos snapped in downtown’s business district on Saturday afternoon by George. You know what they say, behind every blogger is a blogger boyfriend toting around an enormous camera. This isn’t too far from the new home actually, I am leaving the West End for West Georgia: in-suite washer and dryer, dishwasher and floor-to-ceiling windows. Yahoo! (I love moving – seriously. New decor!)

Have a wonderful week, do something very fabulous today (cinnamon your latte, add a touch of snakeskin to your bag, give your nails a fresh paint or purchase a crisp, new fashion glossy, or spend an inordinate amount of time on Pinterest, as I have this weekend. Now that’s decadent.), OR, as previously posted, do something GLAMOROUS!

*Shoe boots. Not to be mis-named as booties. As we saw in The September Issue, Vogue-ettes do not, do not, call this type of footwear booties. Anna obviously has the last word.

{Oooh I want those candles! Hellloo SuperStore!}

{Home collection above and dinnerware (including the nutcrackers), by Joe at SuperStore. Rather chic, non?}

{One thing (among many) that makes Joe Fresh a favourite is their range of textures and statement pieces. They provide such a fantastic collection of pieces that can make any typical outfit rather interesting, like the tangerine sweater above, or the gold sequin skirt. By the way, I want that.)

Thank you to Joe Fresh for a wonderful rainy afternoon! #BigFan.

I’ve had a busy card-making week! I’m preparing for a fabulous Craft Fair Fair of Pretty Handmade Things:

A big gorgeous house, beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, how perfect for a festive day! Get yourself a delicious peppermint/mocha/pumpkin spice coffee and come visit me at the Yellow Honey House on December 3rd! I’ll have an enormous collection of LOVE + MARK’D cards on hand and of course, always love to chat!

{Barefoot Contessa soy candle (c/o)}

{I’ve been searching for some sort of pen and pencil holder lately, and this packaging for the Barefoot Contessa candle works perfectly! (And by works, I mean matches, aesthetics tend to trump functionality at this haus)}

{New make up brushes c/o Joe Fresh – I’m particularly delighted with the lipstick brush, as I accidently smushed a good portion of my Chantecaille lipstick into the cap. Don’t you just hate that?? Especially when it’s about $15 worth of lipstick smushed into the cap…}

{My fascination with nutcrackers grows. My Christmas decorating is done in two ways: 1) with nutcrackers and 2) with all things winter wonderland ie: white, crystal or frosted}

{A miniature moose head for the wall, currently sitting on a side table, from Front & Co, home of some of the best window displays in town!}

{Dior heart-shaped bowl (a crystal version here) with mini candy canes and my new favorite accessory: Social Experiment ring (c/o)}

{Pink fur earmuffs from Holt Renfrew – another fabulous pair here - lucite hook rack from Urban Barn}

{A delicious vaseline based lip balm by Perfumeria Gal, c/o Barefoot Contessa, hand towel from HomeSense}

{Making plans – a moment before heading out to last night’s London Drugs Revlon & Almay event at Sugar Studios – picture tweeted here! They sent a white stretch limo to pick us up… I could get used to that! Wearing: JNBY sweater dress (c/o), La Senza stockings, Zara boots}

Oh, and have a look at this: APT with LSD featuring Aerin Lauder – hello glamorous.

And one more thing that makes me happeee happy: a card, that along with five others, is on its way to San Francisco to the home of a favourite fashion blogger… (Get yours here)

{Wearing: Zara coat & shoes, BCBG Max Azria vest (c/o), H&M shirt, Forever 21 pants & belt, Fossil watch, Armani sunnies, Joe Fresh earrings, Francesco Biasia bag}

Shot just outside of Benny’s on Broadway. We headed there for breakfast this morning, having been there before a couple times with friends. I brought my computer to get a little work done and was sorely disappointed to find out there are no outlets at Benny’s. I also learned that around 11 it is a hub for the younger, more rambunctious set. Not ideal for working. Craving Giovane Cafe right now… perhaps I’ll stop by there later today.

After watching two complete seasons of Mad Men, I’ve decided to make like Betty Draper and don red lipstick. I’m going to wear it everyday for a week and see if anything changes, after all, it’s a real departure from the usual gloss or nude lipstick I wear. Perhaps it’ll give me a new found confidence to do wild things. I shall report. One thing I know so far is, with red lipstick on your make up time is cut way down in the morning, red lips = minimal eye make up. My lipstick of choice (Clinique All Heart) is more of a cherry red, and seems to coming off as a pinkish colour in these photos, but I promise you, it is R-E-D and my boyfriend is terrified of it.

Having done a number of small trips lately, I’m getting much better at packing light and packing only the essentials. In fact, on this last trip to Edmonton (five days!), I brought only one small-ish duffel bag. Even my boyfriend packed more than I did. (Granted, I did make him carry my hair dryer.)

{My favourite travel bag: a classic LeSportsSac duffel that has a bevy of pockets, is the perfect carry-on size and folds neatly for storage}

{Neutral pieces: Fossil rose gold chronograph watch (similar Fossil watch, similar Michael Kors watch), Joia leather & chain link bracelet, New Look (London) crystal bracelet (similar here)}

{Brightly colored electronics: Urbanears headphones (c/o), Apple iPod}

{For working while away: Apple iPad, case from a small shop in Paris, brand unknown (a semi-similar case here, and for the ultra luxe traveler and I’M DYING for this iPad case), Gallery Leather scheduler}

{Tried and true make-up: Chanel pink blush, Soulstice Spa Odessa nail colour (c/o),  Anna Sui Lip Rouge #303, pearl earrings, H&M make-up bag – I love the shape of this little bag}

{A belt that can be worn cinched around the waist or through your pant loops: Zara leather studded belt}

{Cozy, versatile sweaters: Rag & Bone cashmere cardigan, Attitude by Jay Manuel Cream cable-knit (c/o Sears)}

{If you’re selling a product or a service, it’s always smart to travel with business cards and a product sample (if possible): LOVE + MARK’D stationery}

{Comfortable shoes – and you can see I’ve worn this pair a lot: Joe Fresh loafers (similar here)}

As for the clothes, I try to pack a lot of neutrals so that all pieces will work together like: skinny dark denim, black denim and light denim, white and grey cotton T’s for layering, a black silk blouse for night, a soft black V-neck sweater and a red pea coat. Red goes with everything.

OH! And FYI fabulous readers! Scent Society is giving away 30 dual Forbidden Euphoria roller balls from Calvin Klein daily! Click here to enter!

Good luck!

Sometimes fab-tastic emails hit my inbox; one landed last week from Flare’s Assistant Digital Editor, Ryan Michael Chung. Flare Magazine was looking to do a feature on their site with Canadian bloggers wearing Canadian designers! So I eagerly packed up my Joe Fresh, my boyfriend (photographer and serious giver of support and good laughs! And dream boat. He knew yesterday was a big day and so came home with the enormous Harper’s Bazaar Greatest Hits coffee table book! Swoon.), and my camera and headed off for the Lions Gate Bridge – a quintessential Vancouver landmark for a seriously Canadian piece!

{Wearing: Joe Fresh blouse, trousers and nail colour, Zara belt, Ballin shoes, Michael Kors watch, the nameplate necklace was a gift from my Mum}

High street shopping: the chain retail stores that are generally a sure thing for that shopping fix we all need. The affordable stuff that is generally (or I suppose ideally), paired up with the less affordable stuff. After I dressed I realized everything I was wearing was rather affordable, I gave myself a pat on the back.

*The difference between gifted and courtesy of (c/o), being that gifted items arrive in a gift or “swag” bag, items courtesy of are purposely selected and given for blog/brand collaboration. This Joe Fresh coat was a product of the gift bags at the Joe Fresh store opening party last October.

{ No pictures allowed through our tour of Buckingham Palace, these few were captured leaving the palace. }

9:45 am we had an appointment at Buckingham Palace to see the State Rooms, Kate’s McQueen dress and the Royal Faberge. It was quite a tour, easily one of the best I have ever done. I’ve seen many castles, palaces and royal buildings in my life, but I never thought I’d have the opportunity to walk through an operating Royal Palace and home. The rooms with their opulent decor were incredible, as to be expected. The real treat was seeing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress (shown for the first time publicly), along with a video explaining the construction and design of the dress narrated by Alexander McQueen Creative Director Sarah Burton, as well as Kate’s shoes and jewelry from her wedding day.

Immediately after our tour we decided we needed to do something very girly. Naturally, we hopped on the tube for Oxford St, one of London’s busiest and best shopping destinations. (Best for tourists as Londoners have a lot of great shops we don’t in Canada.) One of the shops in that area is the enchanting department store Liberty. (I clearly have a thing for hydrangeas! *Swoon* for hydrangeas.)

{ Then we stopped, mid-shop, for tea time }

Soo many pretty things at Liberty! I have a real penchant for stationery, as displayed above. As Sunday night was our last night, we dressed up for dinner! Which didn’t really work out. We got so caught up walking down New Bond St – where all the designer shops are – that the restaurants had all closed by the time we got to them. We ended up at Pizza Hut. Real glam, particularly my garlic bread sticks.

{ Wearing: Leopard scarf from Winners, New Look t-shirt, Joe Fresh silk shorts, Christian Louboutin sandals, Dorothy perkins necklace worn as a bracelet, Franchi clutch }

London, you treated us well! Mostly. If you don’t count the first Sunday we were there (we arrived in the UK on the Friday), when my wallet was stolen in Nottinghill on Portabello Road. The thief got away with my Mastercard, debit card and ₤60 (about $90 Canadian). What a drag – a whole week was spent without access to any money! Luckily for me though that the girlfriend I’m traveling with, bless her heart, lent me money for that week and we evened it out when I finally received a new MC upon arrival in Paris. Also on that Sunday my pants ripped big right at the worst spot (as seen here), I entered a toilet stall that had no TP (meaning that no, I did not go without, but had to quickly make friends with the girl next to me who undoubtedly thought I was a real perv), and my Tube pass declined to work several times, leaving me stuck in the metal rotating thingy. TMI? London basically kicked me in the pants that day.

P.S. I miss my cat.

Xo StyleStruck

For me the waiting period is that time between when I submit my answers and photos to a publication and when they publish their article. I never know exactly what will make it into the article or interview, or which images they’ll choose and I find myself getting a little antsy. The picture above is one of a few I recently submitted to a Canadian online magazine for an interview piece. Looking forward to seeing it! : ) In the meantime, I couldn’t wait to share with you a couple of new purchases… (I just can’t seem to stop). These sequined shorts are from, would you believe it, Joe Fresh! They’re part of their Fresh off the Runway collection. I look forward to pairing them with my new white linen blouse from Brooks Brothers this August when my girlfriend and I visit Monaco. The heels are a new as well, I found them lonely, sitting on a shelf as part of the Holt Renfrew summer sale. (GO see it. AMAZING.) I was thrilled to find these neutral Miu Mius as my nude patent leather Stuart Weitzmans have just seen one too many dance floors and cobble stone streets. The top is a vintage find from a shop on Main St. in about 2006. I rarely wear leopard print anymore, but every now and then one must. Today was that day for me.

That’s it for now!
