Valentines was definitely not the day to be on the computer, so says my new roommate (and me)! Hence no posting. Speaking of which, yesterday began to the sound of banging jack hammers outside our 20-something floor apartment. Brutal. Not being able to sleep, I got up early to finish a little work, but was soon distracted by the “coffeee!!” noises coming from the bedroom. Turns out the man had a bouquet of roses waiting for me in the kitchen and couldn’t wait any longer for me to find them. Now that’s cute.
We both took the day off and had a late start cooking raspberry pancakes together, me trying my hand at the heart-shaped variety. Before our day out could begin, I had a special delivery to make in Yaletown to the winner of Sophie Collins and my Brownie & Stationery Basket giveaway! (Congrats Wen-chee Liu!) Then we were off to West Vancouver for a relaxing afternoon. We popped into Chapters to peruse the latest book selection without any notion of time. Just wandering and reading. This is something I have wanted to do for ages. How often have you thought “wouldn’t it be great just to saunter around the shop reading book jackets and flipping through fashion books and magazines”?? I have often, every time I passed a book store. I ended up with two keepers that I hope I get to before the dust does. (I have a habit of purchasing books with big ambition of reading them straight away, but often let reading fall to the bottom of the list of priorities, which it shouldn’t.) We moved onto a lazy lunch at Savary Island Pie Company (I highly recommend the chicken celery sandwich on cranberry italian bread!) where, thanks to this bizarre Canadian winter, we are able to sit outside in the warm sun. We finished our afternoon with a long, casual stroll down the scenic sea wall between Dundarave and Ambleside. A truly calming and delightful day!
How did you celebrate Valentine’s day? Whether with someone, or just treating yourself to a little something, I hope you had a lovely day. xo

Sometimes fab-tastic emails hit my inbox; one landed last week from Flare’s Assistant Digital Editor, Ryan Michael Chung. Flare Magazine was looking to do a feature on their site with Canadian bloggers wearing Canadian designers! So I eagerly packed up my Joe Fresh, my boyfriend (photographer and serious giver of support and good laughs! And dream boat. He knew yesterday was a big day and so came home with the enormous Harper’s Bazaar Greatest Hits coffee table book! Swoon.), and my camera and headed off for the Lions Gate Bridge – a quintessential Vancouver landmark for a seriously Canadian piece!
{Wearing: Joe Fresh blouse, trousers and nail colour, Zara belt, Ballin shoes, Michael Kors watch, the nameplate necklace was a gift from my Mum}
Big thank you to Flare Magazine and the digital team for asking me to be a part of this wonderful feature!

Nail colour “Odessa” by Soulstice Spa, c/o NailPolishCanada.com}
I was recently give the opportunity to choose three bottles of vegan nail polish by Soulstice Spa from NailPolishCanada.com. Needing a break from the usual deep nail colours of Fall, I decided to go with three lighter but versatile colours; from left Kyoto, Odessa and Paris. I haven’t had the chance to try Kyoto yet, but am loving Paris and Odessa so far. The polish goes on smooth and doesn’t chip. Fab-u-lous.
And I have some fab news for you! My friends at NailPolishCanada.com are offering StyleStruck readers 50% off of my current favourite colour, Odessa! Insert code styleodessa at checkout and receive your discount! Offer good until October 7th. Click here to buy!
Today started off in the best way; with fashion! Tara Parker Tait PR and the NYC reps from Eileen Fisher held a breakfast presentation for the fashion crowd this morning at the Eileen Fisher store on South Granville (2721 S Granville). We mingled as mini smoothies, french toast and coffee were passed around and viewed the favorite Fall looks. I’m happy to report the rain didn’t stop the attendees from looking super stylish, like a preggo lady dressed to the nines in a long body skimming skirt, a loose knit top, killer snakeskin print stilettos and fantastic accessories, not to mention perfect Bardot-esque hair. Oh to be so put together!

{ Wearing: Zara blouse, Fidelity denim, Ballin shoes, Gianni Chiarini bag, Michael Kors watch, Stella & Dot rings and sweater brand unknown – new hair colour by Suki’s! I’ve gone a warmer, darker blonde for Fall and loving it! (A year ago at this time my hair was looking like this! #GrowingPains) }

That’s my coffee sitting there. I’d love to own a loose knit sweater like this, it’d be fantastic belted over flared denim.

Malania Dela Cruz gave us colour with our coffee

I want, I need, I can’t live without. So many perfect layering pieces, Eileen Fisher, welcome to Canada!
P.S. Event Notice: Who’s going to Spend on Trend this weekend on Main St?? A perfect time to mix vintage with pleasure!

As I type this I am savoring a brick of lemon tart – it’s literally enormous, I shall be sitting here on the Thierrypatio for quite some time. Oh, the sweet afternoons of summer.
Very much looking forward to the Standing Armed show tonight – especially seeing the bloggers out in full force! See you tonight! I’ll be live posting pictures from the show (the clothes! The Who’s Whos in attendance & the bloggers! Oh my!), on my Facebook page this evening!

{ Wearing: Mossimo trench, Ralph Lauren Sport cable-knit sweater, Zara blouse, Zara silk skirt, Michael Kors flats, Cole Haan bag. Michael Kors watch, bracelet from New Look (London). }
Last day of August you’d expect to be wearing shorts and a light blouse, no? Not here in Vancouver where it’s sitting at about 15〫C. But I don’t mind, I’ve been missing layering up, wearing my beloved trench and cuddling under blankets at home. Fall, welcome back!
(Don’t hate me. I’m just not a Summer girl.)
Ever have those weeks where you are in a bit of a mad rush to get yourself accustomed to a routine that is unfamiliar and in your haste completely forget to blog for four days? Well I do, and this week was it. Being back from a month in Europe, I feel like everything has changed. Perhaps it’s the new appreciation I have for the French way of life. Oh Paris, how I miss you. Let’s reminisce for a moment shall we; a look back at my visit to Principality of Monaco…

{ Top to Bottom: Strolling through Monte Carlo by the Chanel store – note the Chanel planters, the Grand Prix circuit through Monaco, a dance school named for Princess Grace, a decadent dessert served outside the Hotel de Paris and Monte Carlo Casino (needless to say it was a very, very expensive treat) and the harbor, filled with yachts. }
{ Wearing: Diane von Furstenburg eyelet wrap dress, Gianni Chiarini bag, Zara flats, Michael Kors watch and Armani sunnies }
If you visit Monaco, I highly recommend dressing up. I thought I looked the part, but I felt severely underdressed, particularly in Monte Carlo where the Casino sits high atop the hill. There millionaires parade their luxury cars, overly-groomed and tweaked women and bedazzled pets around as status symbols and the women carry Dior, Hermès and Louis Vuitton as if there wasn’t any other option. Oh yes, now I know why I felt underdressed, I forgot my Birkin! Silly me. ~
The weekend I came back to Vancouver my man, George, planned a few fun activities for us like visiting the Greater Vancouver Zoo and having a couples massage at Spa Utopia. Both were fantastic (swoon). Some may think I overdressed for the zoo, I think: “If the animals look fabulous in their prints and colors, why shouldn’t I try as well?” I particularly envied the pythons and the crocodile, though of course seeing them (and all the other animals), in their cages was disheartening.

{ Wearing: pink transparent net shirt which I purchased before a trip to Europe when I was 16 from who-knows-where-but-isn’t-it-great-I-can-still-fit-into-it, white H&M tank, pleated leather skirt from Zara, Christian Louboutin sandals, Marc by Marc Jacobs purse, necklace from a small one-off shop in Paris and ditto with the aviators }
Thank you for reading, you are fabulous. If I could, I’d pin a badge to your shirt that says, “Hello, I am Fabulous.” Pin it on for me because StyleStruck readers are Fab-u-lous. If you’d like more, I occasionally share my thoughts via a twit. I mean a tweet. (And if you want to ask me anything, Twitter is a good place to do it!)

I had a chance to stop by the Know?Show yesterday and meet some awesome people, one of which was street-style photographer Ian Azariah who snapped me for the Know?Show style blog! Being a self-employed (I pay myself in high heels), means having to pose for whoever I’m with – making for some questionable photos. (By questionable I mean highly unflattering and sometimes rather off – always include the shoes please, no one needs to see all that sky!) It was a real pleasure to be photographed by someone who knows exactly the style of photography I’m after!
{ Photo by Ian Azariah. Wearing: Zara sweater & pants, Ballin snakeskin heels, Michael Kors watch, aviators from Les Marais district in Paris }

Dining in Provence was a dream; sitting outside in the town’s small squares with copious amounts of chairs and tables grouped around their respective restaurants, a warm breeze and a light chatter in the air and of course a glass of French wine in front of you (when in France, do as the French do!)
{ Aviators purchased at a small shoe store in the Marais district in Paris for only €10 }
And despite being in France, all I wanted was a cheeseburger, which somehow I got.We had a beach day planned for the following day, but this American classic was sooo worth it. (Generally when a burger was listed on a menu it meant the French version: rare beef patty, cheese and some garnish on the side.)

{ Wearing: Dress found at Winners for about $20, sandals and aviators from the Marais district, Gianni Chiarini leather bag and Michael Kors watch }
{ Mmm sanguine orange sorbet (blood orange) }

{ Evidently I’ve acquired a real taste for treats! }
Missing Provence and all of its lavender goodness.

Mmmm, it was so good. The morning we left Stratford-upon-Avon we visited a very darling bakery called Box Brownie, which understandably, is famous for their delicious brownies. However, I was too tempted by this lemon tart to pass it up! Yumm.
{ In front of the birth place of Shakespeare – this house is from the early 1500s! I figured I’d make myself really stand out as a tourist with this very casually British umbrella }
{ Shortly after we boarded our train back to London! Just before leaving Vancouver on the morning we flew out, I was having a freak out moment about packing my carry-on bag. I brought my leather carry-all [seen in the above photo], but deemed it not big enough. [A girl's got a lot of stuff to fly with!] This MK canvas bag has come in very handy over the trip! Canvas bag gifted as a swag bag at the MK store opening }
{ Wearing: Zara sweater, Brooks Brothers linen blouse, Fidelity denim, Zara flats, Michael Kors watch, leather & gold bracelet from a stand in SoHo, NYC }
Oh, and did I mention that last Sunday I split my pants? It was my worst day of this trip so far, after a rather miserable day out I get back to the hotel, sit down on the bed and cross my leg under me. Riiiipp. My pants ripped right in the place where you wouldn’t want them to… So train time was mend time with my new 1-pound mending kit!
It’s Saturday night now, about 1:15 am here in London and time for bed! We had a most wonderful dinner at Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill! And then of course I had a potent cosmo in the lounge afterwards, I have made it my mission to try a cosmo in every city I visit. So far, tonight’s at Babylon and the cosmo at Vancouver‘s Pacific Rim Fairmont Lobby Lounge are neck and neck for my top favourites. That said, I never did have one at The Plaza. So I shall have to for a fair comparison. ; )

Strolling around English Bay on a sunny morning! I love this tunic, it’s the modest girl’s answer to Dolce & Gabbana’s eyelet ensembles. Today feels like a real Vancouver spring day, so of course I wanted to wear sunny, bright colours like dandelion yellow and gold.
Wearing: Exetera blouse and tank (underneath) from Bellissima, Sevens denim, Christian Louboutin sandals, Kate Spade tote, Michael Kors watch, Stella & Dot Eternity ring and H&M sunnies.
Dontcha just love an easy tunic? Girls, I know you’re pickin up what I’m puttin down here, it’s the easiest thing to wear after a big breakfast and a couple mimosas, no? Forgiving and glam! Loves it. I’ve been asked a number of times where I shop, the answer is everywhere and anywhere. I don’t think you can purchase everything from just a couple shops (although the hipster-esque girls clad head-to-toe in Aritzia would disagree with me). Style is innate, so really it doesn’t matter where you shop, as long as you understand the silhouette and fabrications that are on trend, flattering and to your taste. For instance, take this outfit, my jeans are from Aritizia circa 2008, my shoes a hand-me-down from my sister, my bag from Holt Renfrew, and my blouse from Bellissima, which is traditionally a ladies’ shop. I did a tour around the South Granville location of Bellissima last Friday and was very pleasantly surprised by the selection – see my last post! Do you have one favourite store or do you shop around as well?
Happy Friday!

Friday afternoon and Marie and I made our way over to my sister’s apartment where Marie will be staying for the next four days – the man and I are headed to Seattle! Dressing this morning, I felt very inclined to slip on some high-heeled sandals and these Louboutins certainly fit the bill. Comfortable and fabulous in one gorgeous package.

This tote I’m carrying was a parting gift from the Michael Kors at Pacific Centre opening party a couple months ago. Love the red accents.
Wearing: Massimo trench, Zara sweater, vintage pony hair belt, vintage dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, Michael Kors tote, Michael Kors tortoise-shell watch.

Photos by my sister, Monika. Check out her blog here!
This is going to be fantastic weekend with a full line up: tonight I will be taking myself to the Bill Cunningham documentary (a girl needs a date with herself once in awhile). Tomorrow morning I’ll be picking up the most gorgeous sequin dress from Monika’s then watching the man’s rugby game in the park with girlfriends and later attending a friend’s graduation party at Coast. And I’m just getting started, Sunday we leave for Seattle for a lovely little get-a-way and I am beyond excited! It’s so nice to get out of the city, even for a couple days. (And HELLO Nordstrom Rack!)
Have a wonderful weekend!

This is how I like to experience this city – outside, in the sun. In the very blustery sun, most of the out-takes from today are me with my hair all in my face, or rather, my lip gloss. Standing just near the lighthouse in Stanley Park, we took in the view this morning with fresh Delaney’s coffees (mine a vanilla latte). There’s no better coffee break (11:30 am), on a Monday morning.

Wearing: Zara cape, black Zara cardigan, gifted Banana Republic silk dress (S/S 2011 collection – in stores now!), H&M tights, Express knee-high socks and Michael Kors “Olivia” suede slouch boots. (I bought these boots at the wise old age of 19, partly because I love a good slouchy suede boot, but mostly because of their name. Instead of waiting for the delivery of an online purchase, I impatiently purchased them from Holts, at a mark up, of course. Four years later and I still love them – I’m quite certain my taste has been very much the same since I could pick my own clothes.) Vintage Ray Ban sunnies, rose gold bangle from Blue Ruby and leather bracelet from an NYC SoHo street vendor.

Afterwards I set up shop at the Giovane Cafe (Fairmont Pacific Rim’s cafe), and clickity clicked away on my computer in their sunny window. Posted today is my first post as a contributing blogger to the Bellisima blog. Please have a look!
Oh, and spotted in the April 14-20th edition of The West Ender are your four blogger hosts from the Guess party! Hurrah! Thank you to “Out After Dark” social columnist May Globus for the inclusion!

I love this JNBY (Just Naturally Be Yourself) shirt dress. It feels professional and preppy, but totally man-friendly at the same time (think: thrown-on boyfriend’s over-sized shirt). I recently wore this outfit (sans clutch, but with my pink Kate Spade bag), to meet and talk with my high school fashion teacher’s grade 11/12 sewing class. (Which was fantastic! And they have an upcoming fashion show that I’m excited to attend! Ohhh memories!).

I mentioned a little while back that I recently wore this dress out for dinner to my favorite Greek spot here in the West End. That time though I paired it with cobalt blue suede strappy heels, a darker blue version of this Marc by Marc Jacobs purse, no belt and messy hair (it was man-approved!). As with all JNBY pieces, this dress is incredibly versatile and can be worn in more than one way!
Wearing: Gifted JNBY shirt dress, vintage pony hair leopard printed belt (from Darling in NYC’s West Village), Marc by Marc Jacobs purse, Michael Kors watch, rose gold bangle from Blue Ruby, suede Rockport boots (I’m really having a moment with these boots right now), vintage Ray Bans, Cargo lipgloss (thanks to the fabulous people who put the Guess party swag bags together!).
A casual stroll in English Bay, hellloo spring time!!
This dress was a wonderful gift from JNBY, many thanks! Their wonderful head visual merchandiser Raffaele recently took me through a look of the Spring 2011 collection and it is fantastic. Lots of amazing casual shirts and jackets just waiting to be dressed up with a belt and a great little skirt or printed leggings. I think I’m going to have to go back for one of their very original origami-inspired skirts too!
Find JNBY on South Granville, West 4th, or in Metrotown!

Wednesday, February 23rd marked the launch party of the new Michael Kors store in Pacific Centre. Make that the gorgeous new Michael Kors store. There is such a major selection of merchandise there, it is mayy-jor! Beyond.
The event was fabulous as well (serving Veuve and the most delicious nibbles), though a little tight, with little room to move around so I only snapped a couple pictures, or rather had a couple taken. Below is one of those pictures with bloggers Victoria Potter of Demi Couture and Peter Ty of The Starving Stylist.
I am wearing: Leather bomber jacket from Zara with a piece of vintage fur, a white shirt (underneath) from Tar-jay (Target), Zara leopard print skirt and my new Birthday-present-to-me, the sunny Kate Spade tote.
On my wish list from the MK store? A gold leather iPad case, for the iPad I don’t have. Yet. I will have my hands on one soon! (I must.)
Be sure to check the store out, though be warned: you will find one, or a few things you just realized you need.
Happy shopping!
