Saturday brought with it my first pumpkin spice latte of the season! Mmmm. Decadent! My boyfriend and I walked down Robson St. to Chapters for a lazy Saturday morning (spotted the first issue of CR Fashion Book there! I didn’t buy, I’m not quite sold yet but I suspect you fashion lovers will be interested in flipping through!), before spending the afternoon at Stanley Park’s Brockton Oval for a rugby game!

I’ve recently had my hair cut quite a bit shorter (by Mark McLeod at Kore Salon in Sinclair Centre), and am now reconsidering the colour, hence the roots! I’m leaning towards a more natural, honey blonde. I figure it’s short, I may as well play around with it before I begin growing it out again!

What else is new? Earlier on Saturday morning just before our meander down Robson St., I hosted a small film crew at our apartment on behalf of Park Royal who were filming a short video for the Vancouver Home and Design Show! This Friday the video will be aired along with those featuring a few other Vancouver style bloggers! I haven’t seen even a clip of the tape we shot, so I’m a little nervous!

See you at the Home and Design Show!

I’ve had a busy card-making week! I’m preparing for a fabulous Craft Fair Fair of Pretty Handmade Things:

A big gorgeous house, beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, how perfect for a festive day! Get yourself a delicious peppermint/mocha/pumpkin spice coffee and come visit me at the Yellow Honey House on December 3rd! I’ll have an enormous collection of LOVE + MARK’D cards on hand and of course, always love to chat!

Oh, how I love Paris. The food, the architecture, the people and the fashion, it’s really one of the most amazing cities I’ve visited. Missing Vancouver quite a bit though, we’re very lucky in Vancouver with how much space we have, the amount of green around us and our choice of food. Seriously, it’s a challenge to eat smart abroad.

Standing on the “Love Lock” bridge (Pont des Arts). Here people come from all over the world to lock their engraved love lock on the bridge. There are about 1600 locks here now, with the oldest dating back to 2008. Cute! Although I hear Paris City Hall isn’t exactly enthralled with the lock situation and is looking to move them. No! I say leave them!

Then we wandered around for a little bit, saw some sights…

{ Cats, I mean, chats!, are everywhere in Paris, in windows, living in our hotel lobby, roaming the streets }

{ Chatons très mignon! These little ones were spotted in a pet store window. I reeaally wanted to take the little grey one home… Marie needs someone to speak français with, oui? }

{ I had to snap a picture of this lady’s fabulous look, don’t you just love her walking shoes? }

{ We happened upon a candy stand on the Rue St. Germain, I had to stop. J’aime bonbons! All candy should come in bags as sweet as this! }

Walking down the Rue de Rivoli, we simply had to stop at Cafe Angelina, famously known for their delicious hot chocolate. This particular location of Cafe Angelina is the original and was a favourite spot of Coco Chanel’s who would stop here for her morning coffee. They serve the most amazing selection of treats (including colourful macaroons, of course) and the hot chocolate really is to die for.

{ Below: Along the way, I picked up a couple touristy souvenirs for the kitchen – my first time buying pepper. }

{ Then we found a ferris wheel in the jardin des Tuileries! The view was amazing! }

{ The weather wasn’t the best this day, but it has certainly improved since! Up on the hill there is Montmarte, a very cute little area of Paris that we later visited. One of its most common sights is the Moulin Rouge }

Au Revoir!

Like spend hours on end sitting in a salon chair, letting dye do it’s job, or enduring the windy blow dryer in pursuit of the perfect accidentally big and fabulous hair. (It’s certainly not in vogue at the moment to show effort towards your hair – just look at the all the New York scenesters, nothing more than a pulled back chignon, or a casual side part and naturally dried hair. But that look or attitude never was very me. Remember my NYE ‘do? Also courtesy of the fantastic Suki’s Salon!)

But this was my day (the day of the Guess event) and you know I went for? Texas style hair. I wanted big and bouncy, and Suki’s gave me just that! The day prior I also spent time at Suki’s having highlights done. Oh, the maintenance involved in being a woman. This post will document my wonderfully spa-like experience at our downtown Suki’s. (Pictures courtesy of my BlackBerry.)

Day 1 at Suki’s: The Highlights – please don’t judge me too harshly on the below photo… I myself find it a little alarming. It is me sans make up and shame. Let’s preface this though with the finished result:

I rather enjoy getting my hair done, with the right colorist and stylist it can be quite relaxing. My colorist, Felicia, does wonders on my hair, I always leave feeling fresh and perky – bright blonde will do that for you. (Above wearing: Silk blouse from (212) in Gastown and Zara skirt.)

New blonde = giddy.

Day 2 at Suki’s: The Blowout

Ooooh, gettin close to Texas style!

Achieved. And now, let’s bring it down a little to Vancouver style…

Guess party here I come! Wearing: Mossimo trench, Old Navy cardigan and Fidelity denim with my Kate Spade tote.

With the Guess ladies in from Toronto and my fellow hosts! Alicia Fashionista, A Haute Mess and The Anthology. All outfits by Guess!

With Vancouver tweeters and friends, Marisa, Christine and Liz.

A big giant thank you to Suki’s for giving me the ultimate hair experience! I shall be back soon!
