These photos were taken Friday morning just before I went to meet Rae for a LOVE + MARK’D meeting at Starbucks. Which by the way, I am largely over. Starbucks serves average coffee at outrageous prices in a could-be-described-as blah environment. There is nothing special about it at all, very much unlike my preferred spots Giovane Cafe at the Fairmont Pacific Rim and Bel Cafe at the Hotel Georgia. We met purposely to discuss a marketing campaign for the card brand and were thinking of creating one with an anti-social media element to it, being that aside from a few well-intended instagram photos, our product is meant for the traditional mail system and has nothing to do with communication 2.0. I am very proud of what we came up with after spending two plus hours sitting in the Robson at Thurlow Starbucks. I must give props to Rae for being such a major part of the creative process, it’s amazing how much more innovative you can be when it is not just you circling ideas around in your own head. We are just in the beginning stages of creating the imagery to support the campaign and we hope to launch in early June. I hope you’ll support us!

Lately I’ve been playing around with my new-ish short hair, this weekend with a small-barrel curling iron. I helped a man at Starbucks who couldn’t find the right size of lid for his tall cup and afterwards he said, “thanks Marilyn.” It kinda made my day.

That put a hop in your step and make you smile. We love those things. You’ll see some of mine below. Not included, but certainly owed a mention is one of the things that makes me smile the most: this little treat.

{ Stella & Dot Renegade bracelets c/o (available here) }

{ Stella & Dot Luxor Link bracelet (available here) and Sidewinder snake ring (available here) c/o }

{ Stella & Dot Rebel Pendant Necklace (available here) c/o. Does this remind you of anything?? Well I’m a total Mad Men fan and this looks to me a lot like Joan’s pen necklace, worn in what seems like every episode. }

Yesterday I received a big box all the way from New York City. When I opened it, I couldn’t believe it. It was Christmas in May. I have been on somewhat of a shopping ban lately and these treats were just what the doctor ordered! I had been feeling like I needed to spruce up my bauble collection and these pieces are just the trick. I am so in love with the luxor link bracelet, I can’t wait to pile it on with my watch and an assortment bangles. I think I’ll do that today. I must say a major, major thank you to Stella & Dot, you made my week!

{ More custom LOVE + MARK’D work! These are due for NYC and Australia! We’re goin global! I so love creating personalized cards, and we can do anything at all. Just ask! (email: }

And the last thing that made me smile? Seeing this picture included as part of Fashion Magazine’s coverage of the Mary Katrantzou event at The Room. It was the first event I had brought Rae to and I’m glad it bore some results for my new party guest!

Ready for Fall! No posts this past weekend, I spent the weekend away with my boyfriend on my Dad’s boat on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

Today started off in the best way; with fashion! Tara Parker Tait PR and the NYC reps from Eileen Fisher held a breakfast presentation for the fashion crowd this morning at the Eileen Fisher store on South Granville (2721 S Granville). We mingled as mini smoothies, french toast and coffee were passed around and viewed the favorite Fall looks. I’m happy to report the rain didn’t stop the attendees from looking super stylish, like a preggo lady dressed to the nines in a long body skimming skirt, a loose knit top, killer snakeskin print stilettos and fantastic accessories, not to mention perfect Bardot-esque hair. Oh to be so put together!

{ Wearing: Zara blouse, Fidelity denim, Ballin shoes, Gianni Chiarini bag, Michael Kors watch, Stella & Dot rings and sweater brand unknown – new hair colour by Suki’s! I’ve gone a warmer, darker blonde for Fall and loving it! (A year ago at this time my hair was looking like this! #GrowingPains) }

That’s my coffee sitting there. I’d love to own a loose knit sweater like this, it’d be fantastic belted over flared denim.

Malania Dela Cruz gave us colour with our coffee

I want, I need, I can’t live without. So many perfect layering pieces, Eileen Fisher, welcome to Canada!

P.S. Event Notice: Who’s going to Spend on Trend this weekend on Main St?? A perfect time to mix vintage with pleasure!

Outfitted for the Canada Day City tv and e-beauty party tonight at the Opus Hotel.

{ Wearing: Brooks Brothers linen blouse, H&M shorts, vintage leopard print pony hair belt (from here), vintage Pierre Cardin snakeskin clutch, BCBG Generation heels, fish cocktail ring from Aldo, Michael Kors watch, Stella & Dot silver ring, gold ring from Blue Ruby. Pearl studs. }

Tonight City tv and e-beauty hosted a party for people-about-town, bloggers and editors to become acquainted with e-beauty, Canada’s new and ultimate online shopping destination for beauty products. I’ve already found a few things that I want…

{ With Arpen Thandi and Kendall Titchener – admittedly, not my best angle, but that’s okay. Up above: swag bags, in the middle: my date’s hand (Liz Sperandeo), reaching for the chocolate filled macaroons! Yum! }

Time for bed, and by bed I mean I’m going to tuck myself in on the couch for a bed time story, and by bed time story I mean I’m going to stay up a bit late watching the first (and only sadly), season of Cashmere Mafia.

Nighty night,

Strolling around English Bay on a sunny morning! I love this tunic, it’s the modest girl’s answer to Dolce & Gabbana’s eyelet ensembles. Today feels like a real Vancouver spring day, so of course I wanted to wear sunny, bright colours like dandelion yellow and gold.

Wearing: Exetera blouse and tank (underneath) from Bellissima, Sevens denim, Christian Louboutin sandals, Kate Spade tote, Michael Kors watch, Stella & Dot Eternity ring and H&M sunnies.

Dontcha just love an easy tunic? Girls, I know you’re pickin up what I’m puttin down here, it’s the easiest thing to wear after a big breakfast and a couple mimosas, no? Forgiving and glam! Loves it. I’ve been asked a number of times where I shop, the answer is everywhere and anywhere. I don’t think you can purchase everything from just a couple shops (although the hipster-esque girls clad head-to-toe in Aritzia would disagree with me). Style is innate, so really it doesn’t matter where you shop, as long as you understand the silhouette and fabrications that are on trend, flattering and to your taste. For instance, take this outfit, my jeans are from Aritizia circa 2008, my shoes a hand-me-down from my sister, my bag from Holt Renfrew, and my blouse from Bellissima, which is traditionally a ladies’ shop. I did a tour around the South Granville location of Bellissima last Friday and was very pleasantly surprised by the selection – see my last post! Do you have one favourite store or do you shop around as well?

Happy Friday!

Sunday morning I met my man, George, and my Mum for breakfast at Savary Island Pie Company across the Lions Gate Bridge in West Vancouver. It’s just a short couple of bus rides away from my home in the West End, and so worth the journey. The cafe (at 15th and Marine Drive), is packed with oddly matched tables and chairs, lamps and collected pictures and decorative bits. It is also home to the best muffins, pies and pastries in Vancouver (my opinion). And what a delight to park yourself in the sunny window and gaze out onto Marine Drive while sipping a vanilla latte – which is what I did while I waited for my company. Afterwards, we went for a stroll along the Ambleside Pier and George snapped a few blog-worthy pictures for me. I’ve been dying to blog about this new skirt that I recently picked up at Zara. It is, to me, my own little piece of Jil Sander, S/S 2011. However, my mother referred to me as “bohemian” (eeeeek! The antithesis of my style!) and my boyfriend referred to my skirt as “my gown.” But I love it, I think it is perfectly casual. I look forward to pairing this skirt with my Chanel platforms and a crisp white button-down shirt.

Wearing: Zara jacket, Guess cardigan, H&M tank, Zara skirt and sandals. Tiffany’s heart bracelet, and other bracelet by an unknown designer – I picked out the pieces at a shopping fair at Heritage Hall on Main St. years ago (previously seen here), Stella & Dot rose gold and silver stackable “Eternity” rings, vintage pearl ring and Fossil rose gold watch. Gianni Chiarini leather carry-all.

H&M sunnies and pearl earrings from who-knows-where. Spending time back in West Van was wonderful, it is so beautiful, particularly in the summer.
