For me the waiting period is that time between when I submit my answers and photos to a publication and when they publish their article. I never know exactly what will make it into the article or interview, or which images they’ll choose and I find myself getting a little antsy. The picture above is one of a few I recently submitted to a Canadian online magazine for an interview piece. Looking forward to seeing it! : ) In the meantime, I couldn’t wait to share with you a couple of new purchases… (I just can’t seem to stop). These sequined shorts are from, would you believe it, Joe Fresh! They’re part of their Fresh off the Runway collection. I look forward to pairing them with my new white linen blouse from Brooks Brothers this August when my girlfriend and I visit Monaco. The heels are a new as well, I found them lonely, sitting on a shelf as part of the Holt Renfrew summer sale. (GO see it. AMAZING.) I was thrilled to find these neutral Miu Mius as my nude patent leather Stuart Weitzmans have just seen one too many dance floors and cobble stone streets. The top is a vintage find from a shop on Main St. in about 2006. I rarely wear leopard print anymore, but every now and then one must. Today was that day for me.
That’s it for now!

This has been a wonderful and interesting week. Tuesday night for one was rather cute. After watching the Canucks game with my boyfriend (whose name is George, by the way – don’t you just love that name? I do), and his roommate, George and I went over to my twin’s apartment to pick up Marie. (Monika and her boyfriend babysat the kitty while George and I visited Seattle, and took extra good care of her, lots of treats and walks.) When we met up with them they’d been celebrating the game win with a few beers, which made Monika extra sad (weepy), and hilarious when she had to give up Marie. It was too cute. My whole family is just in love with that little kitty, especially my 91 year old Grannie who is staying with me now for a few days. Just before we left Monika gave me a painting she did back in eleventh grade. I’ve just re-arranged my apartment and put the painting up (above).
{My home in all its natural glory – a stack of magazines dating back 3 years sitting by my desk, I hate to part with magazines, it’s only when they’re really out of date that I can recycle them, and my well-sat in swivel chair and new picture frame still with the manufacturer’s generic prints inside.}
I’m much happier with my desk arranged like this, it feels much more creative than staring straight at a wall. And I am in love with that painting, I seem to have a thing for felines, as my Grannie pointed out.
{Atop my desk: a hand written note from a lovely friend, Laura. She gave me this card to celebrate a small personal achievement and I couldn’t have been more touched, how lovely is it to receive a card with real hand writing in it! The picture on the far right is my first grade photo – I dressed myself for it: leopard headband, gold necklace and gold dolphin drop earrings. I love me some accessories! That tin holds Stuart Weitzman shoe-shaped paper clips, and next to it is a special silver bracelet with a pretty saying.}
A little more of my re-arranging and re-decorating: (I can’t show you everything now because Grannie was sitting reading on the couch at the time of these pictures, and I didn’t think she’d appreciate my going all paparazzi on her.)

{My favourite table (from The Cross), has found a new home; the couch is now flanked my mirrored tables. I think it rather luxe. Hydrangeas are by far one of my favourite plants, I hope to have giant bushes of hydrangeas outside my future “one-day” house. And you know about my penchant for shiny, sparkly things. Below are stacked boxes covered in a pink toile fabric, and in the back is Marie’s little house of business, as in, that’s where she does her business. I know, it’s not exactly ideal having it in the living room, but that’s the only well-ventilated place I can figure out to put it where it’s mostly out of sight and will fit. The picture two-above features my other favourite mirrored table, which usually has two books stacked under the lamp, but my Grannie is currently reading one of them, it’s a lovely book about Princess Diana’s style.}
Back to my story about the week, it has been a good one. Last night I played softball with my spring league team out at UBC and then Gran came to stay with me and we finished off the night with tea and toast. Except for that at softball I was playing first base and in an effort to make sure I caught the ball to get the other team’s runner out, I caught the ball with my right hand first, and then put it in the glove, and then tagged the runner out. So I made the play, but I’m down one hand. Fantastic. And just to note, that ball is not soft at all. *Ouch*
Happy Friday readers! Oh, and a special mention to a much-appreciated reader, Ms. Nicki C. who always leaves me the sweetest, most enjoyable comments. Thank you for reading Nicki!

The store will provide the full range of Stuart Weitzman footwear, as well as handbags.
YESSSS!
Stuart, Vancouver looves you!
That’s what the weather man reported for today’s weather! I LOVE IT. I finally get to pull out all my winter coats and accessories and have them put to good use. Last year I was DYING to wear this cape and my new fur earmuffs, but it was too warm all the way up to November! Then I went to NYC, and of course packed lots of coats, only to arrive to t-shirt weather. FINALLY! COLD! Sorry to all those who can’t stand this weather, but perk up, get yourself a holiday coffee and enjoy this crisp air while it’s here.

Happy Mittens. Wearing: Vintage plaid wool cape, H&M scarf, 525 America ribbed sweater, Target black tank, vintage faux leather pants, Report suede and leather boots, Fossil rose gold watch, Francesco Biasia leather bag, aviators from an NYC street vendor, Talula wool mittens.
I wore this outfit today to do a little errand running. Stop #1: HomeSense for a new bed throw – last night I was so chilly I could barely sleep. I didn’t find one I liked, though I did see one at Hermes yesterday that I quite liked, and it was only $1200. I’ve decided to purchase one in Toronto,that way I can bring home something fabulous for my apartment. Stop #2: IGA Marketplace for an apple strudel-for sustenance. Stop #3: Chintz & Co. Chintz used to be more fun, but now everything is so darn overpriced! I saw my lucite chairs, mirrored table, place mats and candlestick holders all there all for at least double what I paid, either at The Cross, Urban Barn or HomeSense. Geez Chintz. Stop #4: The Cross for white and blue silk ribbon – you’ll see what I’m using it for soon! More festive decorating!
Last week while perusing Twitter I noticed that Stuart Weitzman was holding a Twitter contest to win SW high heel paperclips. All you had to do was be the first person to retweet their tweet! Yayy! I was the first! Yesterday I received my very stylish paperclips in the mail. Follow @Stuart_Weitzman here for your chance at one of their fabulous contests!
Must be off to accomplish real work now, and decorate, and feed Marie, and nap.

I leave you with a cute Christmas song…
Brittany Yu and I at Opus, holding two drinks for the sake of a party photo. (Wearing: Vintage sequin jacket, H&M oversized tee, Fidelity black jeans, vintage ring, Fossil watch and I have no idea who made my leather bracelet. Oh, and I had on my nude Stuart Weitzman pumps!)
Thursday night Opus played host to a very stylish group of fashion enthusiasts celebrating Obakki and Painted Rock Winery. There were Chanel shoes, sequin skirts, velvet jackets and endless high heels. I attended with friend Brittany Yu, one half of Stiletto Marketing, a local PR, social media and marketing agency. The wine was fabulous, the Obakki models beautifully dressed and the crowd happy. All in all, a very fun night out! The party benefitted the Savong School and Orphanage in Cambodia.
The party was so fun in fact, I forgot to take pictures. Luckily a few others snapped a few!

Saturday afternoon we headed up to the very northern tip of Manhattan to Fort Tryon Park where the wedding was being held. The ceremony was beautiful, outside in a park overlooking the river. The guests sat on white chairs facing an open area surrounded by lovely trees and listened to acoustic guitar as the wedding party walked down the aisle. It was such a simple and sweet ceremony, which allowed the guests to really focus on the words exchanged. When I get all fancied up in a big white dress one day, I think I’ll do the same, leave the focus to the sweetness of the day rather than an extravagant decor.
The lovely bride, Lauren Bucquet in Lanvin.
After the ceremony we walked down a small hill to the park restaurant where the reception was held, and were greeted by servers offering these adorable drinks: Arnold Palmers (iced tea and lemonade), with bourbon
The reception was held under a large white tent, which had small lights strung across the top, sooo romantic and pretty, and also quite 1940s looking. I adore that idea. Here is Tommy, the best man, giving his speech to the guests under the romantic tent:
And you may recognize these boys…
David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, co-founders of the Rag & Bone label! LOVE their clothes, and love them. Lauren works as a designer at Rag & Bone, as seen here.
These boys were so lovely to meet and chat with. David began by introducing he and Marcus by saying they were in the fashion industry, and had a “small operation.” Lovely and modest! I told him I was familiar (and obsessed, though I left that part out, after all, I was trying to keep my composure), with their clothes and thought they were wonderful. Then David asked me who made my dress! I sheepishly said, “Well… I’m sorry I’m not wearing Rag & Bone…” and he said, “Oh well I know we didn’t make it!” So then I told him it was BCBG and he said he liked it. And I will now forever remember that he liked my blue dress. : ) I should mention a note to the ladies: I’m sorry to say, both David and Marcus are married! Marcus’ wife was at the wedding and she was also very lovely!
I wore: BCBG dress, vintage belt, vintage rings, Stuart Weitzman heels and my vintage Pierre Cardin snakeskin clutch – I know you know the one!
After dinner and speeches, the night was spent dancing to music from the 60s through to the 90s, it was a fabulous night!

Friday morning I awoke with a mission: do not let last night’s festivities affect today’s adventures! I feel as though I was rather successful. I don’t have a picture of my outfit for the day, so I’ll just tell you what I wore. A bright peachy orange dress-jumper from French Connection with white leather Zara flats and a sequin purse with a chain strap. And biiig shades to cover my tired eyes! (3 pairs of aviators, the only style of sunnies I like, for $10!) We hopped in a taxi to SoHo where we found a very quaint and charming restaurant serving breakfast sandwiches on fresh croissants and mimosas. Sooo good! After breakfast I was left on my own to shop around, and boy did I do that. First to TopShop where I found a great Rodarte-esque cardigan and 6″ platform heels with a great floral pattern. I also picked up a bracelet and three adorable old Vogue images, with mattes and frames from street vendors. A very successful shopping day! Afterwards I went along home to take a nap before heading out for a big dinner downtown. Here’s what I wore:
Matthew Williamson for H&M wrap dress, Guess by Marciano gold hoop earrings, Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch, Aldo elephant ring, Fossil watch, Stuart Weitzman nude pumps.
After dinner there was no hope of rallying for a second night out, off to the land of dreams back at the Ace.
- End of Day 3 -
This outfit was worn to enjoy Friday night cosmopolitans at the Opus Hotel in Yaletown. All day I had been wondering what I should wear, we were going to be meeting up with quite a big group in the Velvet Room and I wanted to look fabulous. At the last minute I settled on this outfit, deciding that I needed a print moment. The women thought my outfit was a dress, so I suppose the two pieces were a successful combination!
Wearing: BCBG Max Azria silk heart blouse, (as previously seen at Chanel), Zara silk snakeskin print skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch, vintage ring, Stuart Weitzman nude pumps
And for a little kitty update:

Marie is a happy, healthy and ever growing kitten! Happy home over here with little Marie!
Till next time,

What do you get when you mix two cute chicks with a mess of a closet? CLOSET DETOX. This is the latest and greatest way to renew and cleanse oneself without having to pass on that glass of bubbly, in fact, I say when partaking in a closet detox, having a bottle of champagne on hand is probably a very good idea!
So what is a closet detox you ask? It’s when two brilliant and stylish women take over your closet, leaving you helplessly clutching your champagne flute while they dissect each and every piece of clothing you own. This is an absolutely wonderful way to start off any season, especially the Spring season when you’re itching for a Spring cleaning, or a fabulous new wardrobe.
I spent my Saturday afternoon with the ladies of Operation Style, Jillian Crago and Kristy Rogerson, who came over on a mission: to give my over-stuffed closet a much needed detox and me a much needed lesson in closet organization. They started by completely emptying out my closet and then sorting out all of its contents into neat categorized piles; long sleeve, collared, vests, skirts, etc. Once everything was organized Jillian and Kristy examined each piece of clothing for its shape, colour, fabric quality and relevance to today’s styles. Most pieces were lucky, others, like an old black stretchy and very short Wilfred dress, were not. “Faded goes,” Jillian told me. I don’t know why I was hanging onto that dress, the last time I wore it I was blending drinks behind the bar at Cactus Club.
We all have items like this, say an old sweater that you haven’t worn in a year but that you haven’t gotten rid of because you “just might” wear it one day. Or maybe there is a pair of jeans hanging in your closet that haven’t fit properly in, oh about eight months, but you’re saving them because they’re your skinny jeans and you’re hoping that one day, mayybe one day they’ll fit again. (okay yes, I’m talking about my beloved Karl Lagerfeld skinnies). “Those pieces you never wear just stare at you when you’re trying to get dressed, which just makes it harder to find the right outfit!” Brilliant advice from Kristy.
As Jillian and Kristy went through all of my clothing, they created outfits for me with pieces that I would never have thought to pair together! I kept thinking things like, “I’ve had those for years, how come I never thought of pairing them with the cream blazer??” to myself. I won’t lie, at the start of all this I was feeling very nervous, almost nauseous at the thought of other people seeing what my closet actually holds. Some of those things have been in there for years, and I’m not talkin one or two, I’m saying yeeaars, like since 9th grade years. How embarrassing. Although my pride in showing the girls my Chanel pumps did ease the pain a bit. So I pressed on. As each outfit was created, Kristy took a picture so that I could remember them.
Wearing: Forever 21 Blazer, Wilfred stretchy tank, DIY trousers, Michael Kors flats.
Wearing: Cynthia Rowley dress that’s been shortened by the girls of OS, vintage gold belt, Manolo Blahnik flats.
Wearing: Guess jacket, silk top from (212), white Sirens jeans, Stuart Weitzman heels.
Wearing: H&M shirt, H&M striped dress, Michael Kors flats. Kristy also laid some outfits out for me… This one (below) I am really looking forward to wearing come Spring!
Once it was all over, I felt like I had a whole new closet and more importantly, a whole new wardrobe! And thanks to these two lovely ladies, my closet is professionally organized, right down to the colour-coded arranging of the shoes.
A note to guys: A closet detox would make an awesome Valentines Day gift for the lady in your life! I don’t know one woman who wouldn’t love to have this experience. Information on women’s services click here!
And now for the before and afters, top picture shown is my closet before… Here is the after!
