Tomorrow morning a small film crew will be coming to our home to capture our taste for interior design and my taste for all things clothing and accoutrements. The camera will be at our home on behalf of the Vancouver Home + Design Show, who, in collaboration with Park Royal, is putting on the first Style Friday Fashion Show on October 12th featuring local style bloggers. The short segment will be shared at the show, and then on my soon-to-be-launched new blog! I can not wait to share it with you, but there is still much work to be done!

Like my nails… Vacuuming… Dusting… Those mirrored tables show everything!

Que Porter?!

P.S. When my boyfriend came home, I very excitedly showed him the new candles I purchased today that are now proudly displayed on our wooden tray. It wasn’t until later in the evening when he was looking for a wick on the mini pumpkin did I realize he thought I’d purchased three different candles… Aww. #HadToShare

P.P.S. I’ve recently subscribed to Vogue Paris and considering my ambition to become fluent in French, I couldn’t be more excited to receive my first issue in the mail! Still have to get my hands on the September issue featuring Garance Dore though… J’aime la langue!

In my recent DIY post I prefaced the post with a picture of my living room. Things around here have really changed since I first moved in. The furniture has been moved around at least six times, and pieces have come and gone. Finally, finally, it feels like me and it feels like the home of a young adult, rather than of a girl, as I think it did before. My taste has definitely matured in the past year and a half! Goodbye anything pink (pink font is obviously an exception), and with sparkles, hello neutrals, black and white french photographs and natural textures! I mean, hello fabulous!

Smaller mirrored side table from Villa Beau Interiors, large round mirrored table from The Cross Decor & Design. Couch (covered in a throw from The Hudson’s Bay Co.), coffee table and black shag rug all given to me by friends, family (not sure of their makers). Three black picture frames and mirrored coasters purchased at various dollar stores (my best un-kept secret!). All candlesticks, lamps, cream throw, cream jug vase and small metal table from HomeSense (a.k.a. mecca). Lucite chairs and mongolian fluffy pillow from Urban Barn, with sheepskins from Ikea (only $40!!).

Happy home decorating!

Today I picked up my birthday present to myself. I have had my eye on this treasure for what seems like ages and finally today I brought it home. *fashion swoooon*

This Kate Spade “Quinn” tote, also known as the “head in the sand” bag because of it’s gorgeous ostrich print (it’s made of cowhide leather), has a fabulous silk polka dot lining and features more than enough pockets to keep all my things organized. I am so thrilled! Can’t wait to tote this around town. I’m really starting to appreciate stand-out bags, particularly colorful bags, like this pink Kate Spade bag. (Note: I bought this bag for myself, because I’m single this birthday. And it’s going to be a very feminine affair.)

And you know what else I love? Decorating my apartment. With each addition and each project completed this one-bedroom feels more and more like mine. Next up, a picture project to fill an empty space near my desk. Two frames to fill!

After my drugstore bronzer cracked the other day, I finally decided it was time to suck it up and buy a better quality bronzer, and am I ever glad I did. (I can spend on furniture and bags, but for some reason couldn’t do it for a tan. Those days are over.) My new favourite bronzer; Benefit’s Hoola bronzing powder.

And finally, what’s better than coming home to a beautiful entrance way? I am in LOVE with this table (an early birthday present from Mum – she has great taste!), but was at a loss with how to decorate it. Browsing through Chintz & Co Saturday morning I spotted this fantastic candle holder and can’t wait to have guests walk through the door to lit candles. That’d be a lovely welcome, hey?

From top: Kate Spade Quinn tote from Holt Renfrew, picture frame (left), from Homesense, the other was a Christmas present from my Mum, Benefit Hoola bronzer from Sephora, candle holder from Chintz & Co, mirrored table from Villa Beau Interiors.

Thanks for visiting!

I am constantly looking for ways to make my apartment feel more like me. Being rather young, the majority of furniture has come from family and friends, until now. Over the past eight or so months, I have made a great effort to turn my apartment into my sanctuary by bringing home pieces that reflect my style. Pieces like these chairs, this table, and now a new bedroom, complete with mirrored side table and luxurious white bedding. Blissful.

I’m still searching for the perfect item to hang above my bed… a mirror? A painting? I am head over heels for this side table, which I found at Villa Beau Interiors on South Granville last week. The store is phenomenal, just gorgeous. I also purchased a mirrored table for the hall there this past weekend. Happy early birthday to me! The picture behind the lamp is a new addition as well, albeit a less expensive one. The white frame and mat I picked up as a set at Chapters ($20), while the picture is part of an editorial from French Vogue featuring a model in a Fendi fur coat. My bedding, grey blanket, lamp and accent pillows are from the store of all stores: HomeSense. I am a regular there. (Going to HomeSense is like therapy, it’s very soothing and rather delightful looking at all the pretty, affordable things.)

Marie, my little rascal, hiding beneath the throw for my bed. Precious.

What do you do to make your space feel personal and tranquil? I love little additions, like delicious scented candles and fresh flowers.
