It’s not everyday I get in front of a camera and make aim to strut my stuff, oh wait, yup, yes I do do that nearly everyday! But it isn’t everyday that I get to dress up in whatever I want and play in front of a professional camera with the oh-so-amazing Jamie Lauren! I gave a little sneak peak earlier on instagram here!

Wearing: Vintage sequin jacket (similar here on SALE!), New Look shirt (London), Zara belt, Forever 21 trousers (similar here), Ballin shoes (Monaco), & Kate Spade bag (similar here) }

Jamie has a special offer for us ladies just in time for Valentines click image for more!

I have many more looks shot by Jamie to come this week! Wanna see what I’m wearing, LIVE tomorrow?! Well you’re in luck! Catch me on Breakfast Television at 7:30 am for a fashion segment! Au revoir!

(P.S. All photos by Jamie Lauren, permission must be granted for use.)

{ Wearing: Zara leather bomber jacket w/ attached fur capelet (a DIY!), Cynthia Rowley petal-collar blouse, Zara belt, Jason Wu skirt, Browns ID shoes, vintage Raybans, Franchi clutch, Fossil rose gold watch, Bfrend bracelets (c/o) }

After quickly shooting my mood-fitting outfit this afternoon I am back at work, happily filling LOVE + MARK’D orders. The Valentines collection will be published tomorrow, and I’ll think you’ll find them just delightful. Many thank-you’s to Monika who sent over these adorable Bfrend bracelets! She definitely got my colors right!

A helpful winter hint: If you’re like me, you despise going to the tanning salon. Lying in that plastic bed, and then having your skin feel all tacky afterwards as you try and pull up your jeans. I much rather a St. Tropez spray-tan session with Cindy Leyland at Yaletown’s Beauty Mark! She gave me the perfect glow just before the holidays and my seasonal dresses never looked better. I highly recommend her services. Find Cindy on Twitter here

What a miserable Saturday! It sure is rainy and chilly. Though I bring this blog post to you from beneath the covers, so perhaps it’s not all that bad. Saturdays are that perfect day for eating scrumptious foods, putting on something warm and comfortable and hiding away with your favorite book. Or your iPad, or computer. I started mine with a sleep-in (a rarity these days), then shuffled into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee – on the stove using our new old-fashioned percolator. I love cooking on Saturday mornings; today I did brie cheese melted onto fresh french bread in the broiler, and scrambled eggs on top. A delicious breakfast and an aggressive 10 am hockey game. How lovely. (Ha.)

Monday: I am happily running around town making card deliveries, and feeling a bit like an flight attendant with this vintage scarf.

A few days ago I made a dash up to Barefoot Contessa on Main St. wearing this same shirt, I’m having a bit of a white shirt moment right now. How do you style yours??

Spending the day attending appointments, a Main St. meeting and making cards. One fab thing about my line of work: everyday can be casual Monday, or dressy Wednesday – it just depends on what the boss says (me).

FYI – The next and last shipment of LOVE + MARK’D Christmas orders will mail on Thursday, arriving in the Vancouver, Lower Mainland area by Monday, Dec. 21.

The Christmas festivities are well underway: Saturday night was spent at Stanley Park’s Bright Nights Christmas Train! See picture tweeted here. (Wearing pink fur earmuffs from Holt Renfrew, coat from H&M.)

P.S. In case you missed it on Friday, here is my #FF feature on VanCity Buzz!

P.P.S. I wanna know, would you wear this outfit? If not, how would you wear the pieces? Tell me! Above, where it says comments. I dig your input.

I mentioned in my last post that Sunday was to be a relaxing festive kind of day, and it was! We started with brunch in Yaletown and a little downtown shopping at my favorite Homer St. home stores, followed by the Santa Claus Parade and a midday pick me up (coffee and Bailey’s) at the beyond fabulous Hawksworth restaurant lounge. Sunday pretty much made other days feel bad… Except for today, because today is Giveaway Monday!

Thanks to Barefoot Contessa I am giving away this C.C Exclusives angora beret! Well, not this exact one, you get to have a new one! ;) Oh, and there are two colors for you to choose from! This taupe or a soft grey! Hmm, which color would look better with your fabulous winter coat??

TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY: comment (above) on this post that you want to add a beret to winter fashion-arsenal (your style is killer!) and tweet ”I want to win an adorable beret from @so_lovely & @StyleStruck! http://bit.ly/s7fdes” Berets are so French and so cute.

Pssst! For an extra chance at winning like StyleStruck.ca and Barefoot Contessa on Facebook! (Because you can never have enough extra chances at winning! Much like how you can never have enough diamonds.)

The giveaway goes until Thursday and ends at 4 pm PST.

{Wearing: H&M mens sweater (current), Merona shirt from Target (circa… 2006… here’s a newer, better one), Zara pleated leather skirt (similar here), Browns ID boots, scarf from a rack in Sears (again, circa the old-er days, 2007. Similar here – I want this one too!), vintage Raybans, Fossil watch}

I spent the day reliving Constance Prep from the early days of Gossip Girl. Anyone else miss Blair’s shiny red gloss, endless supply of headbands and her daily take on the Constance neck tie? I do. Besides the fashion, you know what else makes me miss the first seasons of GG? How bad the new ones are. It’s become a real soap. But I still watch, for Blair.

T-minus 1 hour and 57 minutes until Jason Wu makes his appearance at The Room at The Bay and I haven’t a clue what should be worn for such fashion royalty. There isn’t a designer I love more (even King Karl sits behind Wu in my line up). Remember the lace head pieces from his Fall 2011 presentation? Too good. Now I’m getting myself worked up. I am literally sitting at my desk half dressed (put those thoughts away!) because I can’t make a decision. Part of me wants to wear purple cords. Shut up, Olivia, bad idea, bad idea… but maybe if I paired them with sequins… and silver heels, Chanel heels! But is that weird if I wear Chanel to see Wu? If only I owned some Wu then all my problems would be solved! Perhaps I should nip out to Holts and get some Wu… and then not eat for a week month. No. Nuts. I’m nuts. … But if I didn’t eat for a month then I could actually fit into the Wu… How’d you like that? A few seconds inside my head, imagine what it’s like to live in here all the time.

I shall take a million and one photos tonight. Off to battle the closet. Au revoir!

{At the Joseph Ribkoff show, where Miss America walked}

{Miss America and Ribkoff regional rep Shawn Costello and Lyndi Barrett of Lj PR}

And then there was a little interview:

The music was a little loud, so I’ll let you know what I asked him. For starters, I’m quite certain I said something along the lines of: “So, have you been to Vancouver before?” to which Shawn replied, “Yes, actually I live here” and so I said, “oh… but with the brand?!” (Save. See, I thought he was in from Montreal.) We went on a bit about how Joseph Ribkoff is a Canadian brand that is manufactured in Canada (well done!), which led into me getting my Nancy Grace on and asking: “We have a Miss Canada, right?” Yes, we do,” “why don’t you sponsor Miss Canada too?” Well gosh Olivia, go and put your high heeled foot in your mouth. Why I would ask such a nice guy like Mr. Costello a question for head office I don’t know, but there you are. And of course, as eloquently as a Miss America pageant contestant Mr. Costello answered: “Well, if that opportunity comes up we would of course love to look into it!” I think we have a winner for Mr. Canada! ;)

After the show photographer Landgero emailed me with some shots he took of me, here is my favourite:

** My giveaway for the TWO TICKETS to Circle Craft’s Christmas Market is still going on! You have until Sunday night to enter! CLICK HERE to enter! **

{Wearing: Talula jacket, vintage sequin jacket, Brooks Brothers chambray shirt, H&M denim, Browns shoes, bracelets from a collection of small boutiques in NYC and London, rose gold bangle from Blue Ruby. iPad 2 case from an even smaller boutique in Paris. Aviators from H&M.}

This jacket is brilliant, warm and functional. It’s nice to have a break from carrying a purse some days and this jacket allows me to do exactly that! I love the expanding pockets.

It’s perfect trick-or-treat weather, I hope you find yourself with lots of treats this evening!

Happy Halloween!

Zara trousers and Pierre Cardin clutch. (Really love them.)

{Wearing: Vintage Karen Kane blouse (previously owned by my Mum), Zara trousers, Manolo Blahnik flats, vintage Pierre Cardin clutch, Michael Kors and Fossil watches, iPad case from a tiny shop in Paris and sunglasses from who-knows-where, coral lipstick by Anna Sui}

Last night I accompanied Dress for Success board member and good friend Liz Sperandeo to Y.E.S! Vancouver‘s Room With a View event at The Room in The Bay. The event featured a fashion presentation of The Room’s hottest fall pieces, a ridiculously good raffle ticket prize offering and models we could not only relate to, but admire: women with a deep philanthropic mission walked the runway. I must say I clapped aggressively for Heather White when she took her turn to walk! Heather is fab-u-lous. (Pictured below walking the runway and with me shortly after the presentation.)

{Making my exit after the event wearing: Tevrow + Chase jacket, sweater from another tiny Parisian shop – brand unknown – Zara trousers, Ballin shoes and Pierre Cardin clutch}

{Wearing: Mexx sweater (c/o Courtney Boutique in Kerrisdale), Club Monaco onesie, Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes, vintage Pierre Cardin bag}

A night with the team from CountDown Events is like none other that I’ve experienced. It is time spent in pure luxury, and one I won’t forget any time soon. Last night we gathered in the Four Seasons’ Presidential Suite to witness the taste, skill and passion the CountDown Events team has for event planning (which is extraordinary, they are after all the team that brings us the Creme de la Creme wedding show each year!). Walking in I was greeted with a lemon yellow martini, in one of those 1950s style champagne glasses, garnished with a fresh raspberry. Perfect. The suite itself is phenomenal, from the crystal chandelier to the upstairs bedroom (complete with a sort of french royal blue coloured velvet couch and Vogue Living coffee table book – I’m home!), and gorgeous view overlooking the Vancouver Public Library. Just being there was sensational. And then there were the treats, like sparkly cheesecake on a stick, for one (I die), and the touches the team added to the decor, like full displays of fresh pink roses. It was simply heaven. Then dinner, at Yew…

{Me, with Clio De La Llave, Monika Hibbs and Elsa Corsi}

{Sweet pink treats at Yew – a must visit}

To top it all off, when we left we were handed an enormous bag, holding Mr. Big’s (and now mine too) obsession: the white hotel robe. Personalized. Glamour, I would say, would be the word of the night. (Remember that SATC episode?)

A big fabulous thank you to Soha and her team for such a fantastic experience!

High street shopping: the chain retail stores that are generally a sure thing for that shopping fix we all need. The affordable stuff that is generally (or I suppose ideally), paired up with the less affordable stuff. After I dressed I realized everything I was wearing was rather affordable, I gave myself a pat on the back.

*The difference between gifted and courtesy of (c/o), being that gifted items arrive in a gift or “swag” bag, items courtesy of are purposely selected and given for blog/brand collaboration. This Joe Fresh coat was a product of the gift bags at the Joe Fresh store opening party last October.

Last Thursday at 3:30 pm I made my way through the doors of Sears, through the make-up department and over to a growing crowd of people. In the middle of the crowd, amongst media, fans, security guards and PR people was Jay Manuel, looking nothing less than fabulous giving an appearance for his new collection of woman’s apparel, Attitude (sold exclusively through Sears). Very aptly named as Jay can serve up some attitude (well, that’s what I saw on Top Model anyway), but in person he is a very generous and interesting person, not to mention gracious. Along with the other “fashion media” I was sent over to a corner of black carpet and a huge step-and-repeat to wait for our chance to interview Mr. Manuel. Interview? What interview… shoot, shoot, shoot, I can’t remember what the email said from the PR lady… So obviously I didn’t have any interview questions prepared, but I thought “I’ll just wing it! There’s no way I’m missing out on this – I like clothes, he likes clothes, I’m sure we’ll have loads to talk about!” And thank goodness, we did. Below is my impromptu interview filmed on my iPad (thank you to Meagan!!), with the Jay Manuel. Please do forgive the sound quality as the DJ was blaring his music (even while the TV crews interviewed…).

{Wearing: 3.1 Phillip Lim dress – which Jay said he loved! – last seen here, Mossimo trench, Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes and vintage bag}

My questions: (I can’t give you exactly word for word what was said, so this is the gist of how he answered the questions. These answers are not to be quoted.)

What is the thing that you best bring to women’s fashion?
Jay said as a child he had had a new tailored suit every year (and still has them!), and thus really understands a good fit, particularly of a suit. He has included some fantastic suitings on his collection.

What do you think of clothes becoming more demure and modest? I mentioned that from looking at his collection I could tell his clothes were more conservative – uh oh, wrong word! He cut in and made sure to let me know that his clothes are still sexy! Indeed they are, but I definitely appreciate that he chose to use sophisticated (better word), cuts and styles that show off a woman’s body, but don’t literally show it.
Jay said that he thinks women want to feel sexy and empowered in their clothing and that doesn’t have to mean showing a lot of skin. That is done through great tailoring, the right fabrics and the details that really make a piece. In one of the suit jackets he said they did a great shoulder detail where the seam (to the sleeve), is raised and tucked to give a stronger shoulder silhouette. He said he thinks women feel most confident when they feel good in what they’re wearing. (We sure do Jay!)

Maybe you want some more: An interview about the collection from Toronto

And a note: I’ve created a Galleries link in the left column where I will be posting collections of photos. I’ve put one up already! Love to know your thoughts on the new look of my blog! Xo

{Sometimes colours don’t photograph as they are, which is a real shame and is the situation with my favourite red Mountie-esque coat.}

Photos shot just around the corner from Burnaby and Nicola in the West End.

Just before I left for Europe I had the delight of being treated to a complimentary eyebrow shaping at Bombay Brow Bar‘s new West 4th location. On the day of, I was feeling a little camera shy – the threading left my eyebrows a little red, which is to be expected (the red went away within a couple hours – and so I avoided taking snaps. Wish I had, the decor of Bombray Brow Bar is adorable and fabulous. And my brows were pleased as punch with their new shape, in fact, the shape has held so well that I’m just now thinking of going back to get a little cleaning up done. As you may have seen in my last post, I’m brow-crazy right now. Likely thanks to model Arizona Muse, check out her set here.
